we have terribly stupid wildlife "management" in this country, oftentimes
The surrounding issue- managing the recovery of a threatened species in a way that minimizes impacts on a resource humans use- is tricky.

But “sea lions belong in the sea” as a reason to kill sea lions in adjacent-to-the-sea rivers? My god.

I started playing around with NetRadiant Custom recently and I always forget just how much I miss making levels this way.

It's nice to be able to just plop down a room in whatever shape I want without needing to plan, build, expand, export/import, or setup modular kits to support it.

its really annoying seeing people complain about Debra Wilson being in everything when Troy Baker is the same and its crickets…… black women make up less than 5% of the industry… complaining about us getting work is so silly

This has been standard on Steam in the UK for a while now.

I do not have a credit card. NOBODY in my family does. It's debit cards all round. Several major streamers I know also do not have credit cards.

We are all apparently unable to prove that we are over 18. I am over goddamn forty.
Steam is asking Australians to verify they're adults by linking a credit card, something millions of Australians don't have:

You know, I often say that playing old video games is like learning a language. The more you play them the better you become at understanding their vocabulary, the structure, etc. You can become fluent in classic video games, but I think a lot of people simply have lost it, or never learned how to.

To be clear – this is not specifically about remakes. It's about an overarching, pervasive perspective on classic games as lesser for being 'outdated' and lacking modern features. The general idea that games of the past become obsolete and hard to play because of technical developments. I hate that.

The way people talk about classic video games makes me really sad sometimes. Makes me think about the guy who said that "everything needs to be remade eventually", because I think this is an unspoken/unexplored thought in the minds of many. It's just kind of tragic to me.

The last few days have been the first time I've actually sat down and played Quake 2 for more than 10 minutes. I think this is genuinely one of my favorite games now!

Pretending the days after Sept. 11, 2001 were some kind of gauzy Hallmark special when we came together as a country is nauseating and ahistorical. The country went completely insane and has not recovered

I was in 8th grade when 9/11 happened. The scariest things happened after the towers fell. Blind nationalism turned a lot of otherwise docile people into racist monsters yearning for hate crimes. It was being pushed on the news and in movies. If you spoke against that you were destroyed by the media

Happy 72nd Birthday to Ruby Bridges, who at the age of 6 desegregated the New Orleans public schools.

She’s younger than 30 senators and our last two presidents—and only 7 years older than Barack Obama.

The past isn’t past.

Hm, any composers following me? Trying to brainstorm what a good workflow would look like for designing music to run in a PS1 engine.

Here's what I'm thinking so far:
- Instruments are imported into the DAW in SFZ format.
- Reverb is applied with github.com/BodbDearg/Pl...
GitHub - BodbDearg/PlayStation1Vsts: A fork of the iPlug2 Framework (https://github.com/iplug2/iplug2) to host 2 VST instruments: a PlayStation 1 SPU instrument (ADPCM based sampler) and a PlayStation...

We live in an era of remakes and reboots. No new ideas, just circling the ones we had as kids. I think that's not a great place to be

I'm glad you're all excited, and maybe I'll play it, but I just don't want remakes of games I already played to death! Put those resources into new games!
