Has UEFA lied to the Football Association of Ireland about its anti-racism rules and protocols?

If so, it should be a big problem for UEFA and the Israel Football Association.

But only if the FAI takes this seriously and puts this latest incident in context.

If you’d asked me yesterday how they’d respond, I’d have said: they will swiftly settle on “It is journalism’s sacred duty to hound and destroy minor public figures as a demonstrative lesson to anyone who defies or displeases us: step out of line by a millimetre, and you will be next under the boot”

The thing to note here is that these people *had an absolute blast* kicking seventeen shades of shit out of this guy, just as they always have a ball kicking fuck out of people they despise. It’s easy to tell when they’re going through the motions, and when they are absolutely loving it.

According to people in Aida refugee camp this demolition could happen as soon as tomorrow. They wrote today to FIFA and the Swiss government urging them to call on Israel to desist from any demolition plans. The pitch is a lifeline for hundreds of Palestinian boys and girls.

I missed this; maybe others have too. El Shewy, Griffiths & Jones, 'Israel's War on Gaza in a Global Frame' @ onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10....:
"the war on Gaza—and Israel's entire colonial project in Palestine—is not only produced through geopolitical relations but generative of them." 👌

The moral case for the Israel Football Association's suspension from football is horrifically self-evident, but important to stress there are very clear grounds for their exclusion in the UEFA and FIFA statutes. Joint letter to UEFA from Bohemians, Irish Sport for Palestine and FairSquare 👇

Germany and Italy need more time to consider whether Israel should be denied *partial access* to the Horizon Europe research fund.

More time in the face of daily Palestinian deaths from bullets and starvation.

More time to mildly sanction a State accused of genocide by Israeli NGOs this week.

I think the fundamental error in this piece is imagining that there is some inherent tension between Starmer the human rights lawyer, and Starmer the ruthless bourgeois state manager.

And like, I don't think that's what's going on?

this was very clearly a likely consequence of proscribing a pro Palestine group.

Ignorance, opportunism and govt goals all working together here to chill speech and end freedoms.
