Trans rights is inherently a bodily autonomy issue. Just like abortion rights is. We can't have gender equity or reproductive freedom without trans rights. Full stop.

You can yell at me and make up shit that you claim I've said if it makes you feel better. I don't care. I'm right. And you know it.

A friend of mine, a darker-skinned brunette woman, was screamed at on the street by rednecks riding around in a truck with a gibbet and effigy of bin Laden in the bed
It’s becoming increasingly clear that the narrative around 911 is being written by people who were either children or not born at the time of 9/11.

We were not holding hands and singing Kumbaya in the streets. In fact, things got pretty ugly and anyone who didn’t toe the line was called a traitor.

Continues to be a (fun) honor! So nice to know the work is finding the people it’s for. Thanks, Dan!
I simply can't say enough good things about the Jirel work coming out of the New Edge S&S camp (@newedgeswordmag.bsky.social) by Molly Tanzer (@mollytanzer.bsky.social). Tons of fun to be had, and Molly's always a very philosophical voice. Let's go see what's on the other side with Joiry's lady!
Jirel of Joiry: "Jirel Meets Death"
Not to get too dark too quick, but I am absolutely terrified of death. It's my number one most paralyzing fear. It's been that way ever since I read Faulkner's As I Lay Dying in one of my college...

These type of mens are always thinking about dick and balls. All day, dick and balls dick and balls. Their own, but also—weirdly? generously?—every single other set of dick and balls in existence. Are they good enough, strong enough, to defeat whatever it is that needs defeating via dick and balls

I’ll have a story in this magazine later this year, and next year’s proposed lineup looks amazing. Go forth! You know what to do!
We’ve published dark fiction for 27 years, and don’t want to stop any time soon. We believe stories can inspire growth, change perspectives, and are essential components of every culture. If you agree, support our Kickstarter for another year of great tales. kck.st/4x4r1oz

Truth about Bluesky: Far more Reacher fans than you could ever imagine
September 6, 2026 at 1:36 AM
I don't think it's effective praxis to declare something was never good, as clearly the True Fans don't agree and they're the people who need to be reached on the level of "this person is a monster and there's no ethical way to consume this."

Purity is always a mug's game
What happens a lot on social media is when someone (Warren Ellis, Neil Gaiman now Ed Brubaker) has allegations thrown at them people tend to leap out the woodwork saying "their work was never good."
That helps no one as it's irrelevant. What matters is their actions and what they did.

*stares in Goodreads having a “like” button on reader reviews*

Bad faith readings are extremely annoying but whenever I get one I mostly feel…pity. Even when they’re malicious. *This* is what you got goin in your life? Great news for you tho, I’m gonna go write another 10 books you won’t like 😌
I sincerely believe that algorithms calibrated toward outrage/anger have created an atmosphere where shallow/lazy readings of media are rewards with actual money, and the exhausting discourse cycles over people not understanding subtext is getting into the heads of writers
I find this an increasing issue in YA as well. A lot of authors are trying to hold the hands of their teen audiences (or of the adults who are reading it). Everything is over explained and wrapped up in a tidy bow. Teens complain to me about it frequently.

It’s about time we had a reckoning with the need so many writers feel to over-explain everything aspect of their stories, even in non Weird genres. Readers don’t need to be babied. Let us figure things out. Leave room for interpretation. Over-explanation makes writing worse.
Weird fiction seems to be having a moment but without lots of the people trying to write it actually grasping what it is.

I keep reading stories where there’s clearly an attempt at vaguely gesturing towards ‘the Weird’ but they just cant help over-explaining everything. Truly frustrating stuff.

In 2024, Moulton said he didn't want his daughters, then 3 and 6, to be "run over on the playing by a formerly male athlete." the in-town soccer league they would have been eligible to play in WAS COED AT THE TIME. Oh, and he gave an absolute loser non-apology about it.
Seth Moulton’s anti-trans rhetoric comes back to haunt him in Senate debate with Ed Markey
"I deeply recognize your trauma, and I'm sorry if my comments hurt you," the congressman said.
