Been thinking a lot about #freelance work recently. The big platforms all look very "race to the bottom"-ey to me.
Are there any effective alternatives to those platforms? Is there a market for back-end dev work in proper back-end languages?

I spent some time watching #StarTrek TNG yesterday. I had never really directly noticed that there seem to be at least two intermingled storylines going on in each episode. I noticed it because it "felt" different while watching.
Am I going crazy or is this something we no longer do in TV?
