I love good books and bad movies. Trying to raise healthy and kind humans on the South side. Overrun by pets and projects. (she /her) Free Palestine.

i'm sorry, but it's still incredibly funny to imagine a literal pope watching this and yelling at the TV

If your girl ghosts you regularly and doesn't play well with other forms of transit... That's not your girl that's a Pace bus

Yeah they didn't used to lead with "you will be dropping out of a helicopter with a machine gun" but I guess these are not subtle times
The war/army ads are awful but also: I'm old enough to remember when they really minimized (lied about?) how much war was/could be involved in army service. Like it was all high tech engineering and team building exercises. I don't know if this is better or worse propaganda?

Reading with your kids is beautiful and human and the jumping off point for so many conversations. I have been reading The Giver with my 9 yo and it led to some really deep talks.
Reading my daughter books when she was little was the absolute best part of parenting. For Fathers Day a few years ago she made me a coffee mug of one of our favorite books to read together. I treasure it.

Re Hilario: I took my annual "Don't be a creep/ report abuse" trainings for CPS today and it's so clear that the kind of behavior people were discussing and handling discreetly at trp is in violation of the policy. Like, directly from examples!

no, it wasn't a one-off

and there are more women who are willing to come forward now also
Oh, so this week’s attempted legal intimidation of an underage girl’s accusation of sexual harassment wasn‘t a one off

I bet the hardest part of being a baseball player is not crying when you get hit with a baseball going 90 mph, it must hurt like a mf

Nobody bandwagons like a kid, my youngest was actively rooting against the Sox as recently as the pope hat game and just described themselves as a Superfan

My family got $80 in store credit for getting COVID/flu shots together ($20 per person) at Mariano's, and soon after we did, the kids' art teacher told us she had the flu. Go get your shots.
"It's crucial that people get an influenza vaccine," says Scott Hensley, a virologist at the University of Pennsylvania. "And this might be a year that people might want to get a vaccine early."
An early flu season means it might be time to think about a flu shot
Flu season typically starts in October or November. But it looks like the flu started to pick up in September this year.

AI has talked kids into suicide, fueled paranoid delusional that led to murder, degraded education quality in both k-12 and higher ed, run roughshod over copyright law, increased spam, fueled spam, fueled fraud, degraded the environment, put people out of work, the list goes on and on.

I'd like to know more about how The Resurrection Project handled/handles safety and boundary issues with its youth summer programs because "have a man to man talk, more than once" ain't a good sign

Mandate of heaven for the only MLB team with fan nights for Pride, Mexican heritage, *and* Pope Hats. Chicago is vast, we contain multitudes.
This is the future liberals want and it’s alive in Chicago.

Telling people the truth should not be considered vandalism
Cornell University was vandalized overnight as anger over the case spilled into protest.

Silence protects the powerful.
Speaking up changes the room.
And the backlash always reveals who was comfortable with the harm.
