I for one think it’s bad that the president can just say crazy stuff all day every day and 99% of it doesn’t make the news because we’ve normalized having an insane president

This Labor Day, if you've ever benefited from:

— The weekend
— 40-hour work weeks
— Workplace safety standards
— A minimum wage
— Paid time off

thank a union.

Unions don’t just improve working conditions for their members, they help every American worker.

Happy Labor Day!

Often lost is the irony that when the left used the word "woke" they really did mean something political. Not radical, usually, but political.

But when the right dismisses "woke," it's entirely radical. They quite literally mean to dismiss any and all obligations to basic human decency.
I have a lot of thoughts on this NYT piece on bike lanes.

It adopts the framing that they are part of the culture wars, instead of simply a tool in the multi-tool transportation planning toolbox. 🧵 www.nytimes.com/2026/08/31/u...
Do D.E.I. Bike Paths Exist? The Trump Administration Says Yes.
The administration has revoked funding for bike paths, and encouraged removing some. A cycling advocate said it is playing on the idea of “that dork on a bike.”

TV. Most of it is still crap but it used to be nearly all of it. And the good stuff today is way better than the best stuff of any previous era.
Food, man. Food is so much better than it was in 1986. All of it. Poor-people food, restaurant food, fresh food, frozen food. Food is just a hell of a lot better.

Back when I was a young man, CEOs made about 20 times the salary of their employees.

Today a typical CEO makes over 280 times more.

Here's what we can do about it.

To be clear, the fires in Canada rn are in forests that normally burn about once a century. They have NEVER been managed.

What's changed in the last 4-5 years is the climate.
