Almost choked up a bit finally reading the introduction to this and realizing my story submission to Otherside in part "launched" the project & helped editors Angel Leal & Jess Cho make a special home for trans horror with "hard to sell" elements. I'm so pleased to help make space for other creators

Reviewing my lesson plans for today’s classes and admiring the helpful and detailed notes that past me prepared for my students, such as:

1. Two words: ghost lesbian
2. If choosing between using AI on this assignment and hitting me with your car, please hit me with your car

Thanks to the very kind support of our community, we have some free ebook copies available for trans readers who might not otherwise be able to afford it right now. If that's you, you can download yours here:

You should probably cancel all your Halloween plans, turn out the lights, and spend your day reading some incredible trans horror. These stories and poems will knock your socks off (and/or rip your throat out). Really, really proud of this project.

Staring wistfully at my computer, thinking about all that needs to get done this morning, while my wicked and tyrannical captor stares back at me.

Soooo good. I think my favorite in Tender is “A Girl Who Comes Out of a Chamber at Regular Intervals” but I was just thinking the other day that I’m overdue for a reread of the whole thing.

If you're looking for something to read while AO3 is down, how about... a certain free magazine of queer speculative fiction? 👀 We've got it all: enemies to lovers, one bed, multiverse AUs, concerningly hot monsters. Reply with your favorite fic trope and we'll recommend your new favorite story.

If you haven't seen his Macbeth, here's one of the clips I always show in class when we're reading this play:

Devastating, crushing news. I’m teaching a Shakespeare seminar this semester, which means my students and I have been spending a lot of time with Patrick Stewart. And… what an incredible thing, to be so brilliant that you have become inseparable from Shakespeare, from the teaching of Shakespeare.

Ahh, that’s wonderful! Very grateful for all those early teachers who similarly introduced me to so many formative, life-changing, heart-expanding authors 🥰

YAY I’m so glad I get to introduce you! Federico García Lorca, one of the all-time great queer poets. A few poems:

I also get to introduce them to Lorca next week!

Ah, I remember that episode! I also can’t remember if Lorde came up or not…but I remember really enjoying the conversation!
October 29, 2026 at 2:21 AM
Today in class, talking about next week's readings, I asked, "Has anyone ever heard of Audre Lorde?" and no hands went up.

And—I can't believe my job is "introduce a room full of young writers to Audre Lorde." I can't believe I get paid to do that. Teaching is so clearly the best job in the world.

My review of Portals #1 is that I am very easily freaked out by horror, and painstakingly typesetting all the pieces Jess and Angel chose for this installment kept giving me a stomachache (complimentary). If you like having a bad time, you’re gonna have A GREAT TIME.
THREE DAYS UNTIL PORTALS #1! We can't wait for you to read this killer collection of trans horror, feat. Moss Cronin, @aporianautics.bsky.social, @horrorsong.blog, @pvvamsidhar.bsky.social, @esther-alter.bsky.social, jd hegarty, @chideraoffor.bsky.social... AND art from @spicycloaca.bsky.social! 🔪🩸
