This story was just so hopeful despite the setting of a deadly virus… Maybe it’s too much wishful thinking considering our current geopolitical situation around the world, but how I wish there was such timely interplanetary cooperation during disasters..
Miracle Grass 神仙草 by凌晨 Ling Chen, major female voice of 20th century Chinese sci-fi. Deadly virus breaks on the Kuiper Belt, the interplanetary rescue effort takes us from the moon to arid deserts, and ancient ecological wilds. It’s a great pleasure to be translating an author I’ve long admired. 4/

I only just started reading (before I fell sick) but this story broke my heart.. so much love, but so much sadness too.. beautiful writing…
I Want a Different World 我想换个世界, a moving thriller by one of China's most prolific horror writers, Zhou Dedong 周德东. What would you do if you're suddenly separated from your loved one by quarantine, and never get to see them again? Translated @commapress.bsky.social veteran Jack Hargreaves. 3/

This must be the third video of wonderful voices singing global scales I have seen, and each is mesmerising and has taught me things I didn't know. Such as: That these scales exist and how they, the bare backbone of tunes, reflect and unlock whole world regions' music. This is amazing.

I know I’m almost 20 years late to this book but it’s just so unsurprising but utterly shocking and disgusting to read. Very eye opening and extremely relevant to current times.

One more episode where the Crown Prince is breaking my heart… get well soon already 🥲🥲🥲 #ep23 #blossomsofpower
Loving the second couple coz they’re too cute.. but in ep20, the Crown Prince made me all teary eyed with his sincere devotion.. He Yu is absolutely killing it..

I already came in with a bias towards Xiao Changying coz I loved him in the book and they’ve made him even more nicer in the drama.. not fair that I’m again falling for a SML..

As always, Elie’s writing is both funny and profound and very very relevant to our times.
My print piece on the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence is up. I point out that the rest of the country is still desperately trying to get the same rights the white man gave himself 250 years ago.

Will America Ever Give White-Man Rights To Everyone Else?
If we want to make it another 250 years, the Constitution is going to have to do a lot more than protect individual political and civil rights.

Hasn’t been a good drama year for me. Only watched 2 and now onto the third.
#UnveilJadewind was a decent mystery.
#PursuitOfJade was super fun and loved it like everyone else 😂😂
Now onto #TheFirstJasmine and it’s another decent watch but completely different from the web novel.
