In January 2024 two huge storms hit the Maine coast doing unbelievable damage. This tree was entirely undercut by the surf and was left hanging by a few roots in the bank. We've tried to rescue it as best we can. I did this series in tribute to this survivor. I grew old with this tree.

I did a demo this morning for an artist friend to watch. I'm not sure stenciling is for everyone, but I still really enjoy the process...and the final reveal.

I'm getting ready to head to Maine, so here are some AI Lobsters.
I hate AI as much as the next artist, so might as well mock the enemy. The latest AI models seem to have improved rendering humans by putting bland figures in bland poses. Not so with lobsters.

A while back I traveled to the art museum in Greenville to see a show in tribute to mail artist and Black Mountain College alum Ray Johnson by Richard Craven. I came home and made my own #papiermache tribute to RJ based on his postcard. Good luck mailing it. #rayjohnson #richardcanard #mailart

I was asked to make a birthday pinata, after which I got sidetracked back into making #papiermache sculptures for a time. I made some little sketches of animal people, and one became this snake man. #ashevilleartist #sculpture

The truth of my stencil paintings is... sometimes there is more than one. When I started doing these, I did more than one in case I screwed up printing the stencil after finishing the hand painting. Of course the longer I do this, the less I screw up. #painting #art
