Very exciting news: A trial section of the future Stratford High Street bus priority scheme is now under construction, for the eastbound section of High Street from Bow Roundabout to Marshgate Lane.

Aside from a new bus lane, this will introduce a number of improvements for cycling.

Good news, finally, on the Newham #Greenway diversion: preliminary designs are going to Cabinet, with the hope of getting spades in the ground this financial year. The designs are excellent for an interim scheme. Let’s hope we see some speedy movement on this soon. mgov.newham.gov.uk/ieIssueDetai...

Dockless ebikes dumped in foot tunnels under Thames. Our Head of Campaigns @psimonk.bsky.social speaking to @itvnews.bsky.social: www.itv.com/watch/news/e... says the issue isn't just the broken-down lifts or GPS signal in a tunnel, it's also the lack of nearby good river crossings for cycling.

Excellent news that the first stage of the long-awaited Cycle Future Route 7 is open! For now just a few hundred metres, but this eliminates some awful pavement cycling and considerably improves Cycleway 16 where it crosses Leyton Road.

Let’s hope the future sections can be delivered faster 👷
Yay!! The junction on the new Leyton - Chobham cycle way is open!!

Does anyone who's kids already cycle to school, and possibly had to jump through similar hoops, have thoughts on this?
@hackneycycling.org.uk Hello LCC Hackney!
My kid starts soon at Mossbourne Victoria Park and I just realise that they block any kid from cycling to school unless they have a Bikeability Lvl3!!
Any thoughts?

This doesn't just affect people who routinely take ebikes on public transport - although their needs matter too. It also discourages people trying to do their journeys by ebike. I'm much more willing to give it a go if I know I can bail to the Metro if I run out of puff or have a mechanical.
🚲 Do you take your e-bike on the Merseyrail network?

#Merseyfail has banned non-folding e-bikes from its trains and stations. We asked Merseyrail to meet and share the evidence, they said no.

We’re challenging the ban via our Cyclists’ Defence Fund.

In light of recent news headlines, it’s worth remembering that the alternative to floating bus stops is people competing for road space with vehicles that are around 200 times heavier. Bus-bike conflicts kill people.

Protected cycleways and floating bus stops save lives.
Unprotected bus stops lead to dangerous crush movements, even if everyone is careful & follows the rules. This leads to people cycling aggressively (jumping reds) or cycling on the pavement.

Well designed floating bus stops make near misses & crashes between buses and cyclists almost impossible.

Cycling means to be safe everywhere, including at bus stops.

Floating bus stops save lives.

Tearing them out because some break the rules will lead to more bus-bike crashes, and more people in major trauma centres.
One day, perhaps, a UK national newspaper will write a story about everyday cycling that is *not* based on the personal perspective of reporters and editors in central London.
