I’ve been OBSESSED with this record for a few years now. It’s really unique and expansive. Fantastic album.
As Falls Wichita... Recorded the same year as Offramp, it goes hand in hand with the latter. Great playing and chemistry w/ Lyle Mays (his contribution is pretty remarkable). Gorgeous atmospheres (esp. on the 20+ mins. side-long title track). There's a Bille Evans homage (September 15th). Lovely LP.

This is almost right: it was in 1928, and my great aunt Bernadette went to the Convent while my grandpa George was raised elsewhere.

Never listened to this one until like 5 years ago but now it comes on probably once a month.
Giving this one a spin tonight: The KLF's 1990 Chill Out. Nowadays this would cost 100s of bucks on vinyl but I was lucky enough to go to Manchester in the '90s and buy it at a fraction of that price. Last night, I talked about The Orb's debut. This is another seminal ambient house LP. True classic.

Playing Dawn of the Machine for Quake's 30th has got me rinsing more mods they packaged with the Nightdive release. Love how easily they load up. 1st I played "Beyond Belief" (1997), now I'm trying "Slave Zero X" (2024). Great way to contrast decades of level design refinement. It's very "Ion Fury".

OC adventures from yesterday pt 2: We checked out "California Scenario" by Isamu Noguchi in Costa Mesa. It's not much but it really does leave an impression on you. This is precisely what the prompt of "1980s Orange County corporate minimalist modernist version of a Japanese Garden" would yield lol.

We also saw a baby rattlesnake under the bench we were snacking at, and it randomly rained for like 10min as soon as we arrived??? Magical.

If you want to know why it feels like there is no direction or vision in LA, this is why. The LA establishment is stuck 50 years in the past, serving people like the Sherman Oaks HOA who want all the opportunity of being a global city while pretending their neighborhood is a village.
Bass hates taco trucks because she’s running for the mayor of 1984 Los Angeles; Raman is running for mayor of 2026. And the Sherman Oaks HOA believes in an American dream of suburbs without a city, and Bass is willing to pretend that’s sustainable.
