This was my response in The Guardian 3 years ago when I was asked if my work was a response to the prevalence of whiteness in science fiction.

I’m totally patting “January 2021 Nnedi” on the back. Yes, Nnedi. So much yes, 🙌🏾 :
They always want to go with and I want them to go with, too. 😁

One of my neighbors is playing "This is Halloween" (from The Nightmare Before Christmas) on a trumpet. Haha, best holiday of the year. 🎃

Lula has won a fourth term in spite of Meta, after Brazil’s electoral court had to order platforms to stop throttling his reach while they boosted his Trump-backed opponent. Big Tech tried to rig this but the Brazilian people had the final say ✊

I'm aware of how much you all hate Maher. I KNOW...gonna speak anyway: Bill Maher often makes me angry and I was angry at him disgusted with him for doing a 2nd to dinner with Trump (1st time, fine, whatever. But now? He's a lame-duck president AND an asshole, why?)...

I love the weirdness of Halloween, 😆 (*sound on*).

Yesterday, I caught a butterfly and it had a SNOUT. 🤣 I thought it was a painted lady with…something wrong.

Turns out it’s Libytheana carinenta, aka a snout butterfly. The snout is made of elongated sensory appendages. 🦋🐘

How am I just discovering this common but strange butterfly? ✨🥰

I'm sitting at my desk writing. It's a sunny 72F Saturday morning, and the window is open. My local hummingbird is singing 3 feet away. Neptune is on my lap, ka-ka-ka-ing at three quail strutting past the window. I have a peach cobbler baking in the oven, its aroma permeating the house.

Bliss. 😊

My daughter brought this home. What the heck type of plantain is this??? Is it going to ripen like the usual type? Ooooh man, if this get sweet and I fry it up, 😋😋😋. I have a feeling that’s too good to be true. Lemme guess, it never gets sweet. 😒

One of the best things about working out is how great it makes food taste. Also, the happy feeling you get for about two hours afterwards and how wonderful it makes your sleep.

I said this two years ago, and I’m saying it again today:

For women who are Trump supporters, for some perspective, I recommend reading Clarice Lispector’s short story, “The Chicken” (it’s titled “The Hen” in this post…probably a different translation). jenny-mcphee.com/2010/12/04/t...
Two Stories by Clarice Lispector Translated by Elizabeth Bishop
In my pantheon of favorite writers, Clarice Lispector is right there at the top.  She’s a writer, like Muriel Spark or Thomas Bernhard, who always make me ask when reading their work: Is this…

Anyone watch the show Years and Years? It’s my 3rd time watching it and…it leaves me more paranoid and disturbed than Black Mirror. 😮‍💨

Oh, I forgot one! Before I joined Bluesky, I knew Nnedi Okorafor @nnedi.bsky.social as an author of books for adults.

But I didn’t know until I followed her that she also writes for young people!

Just bought YA fantasy AKATA WITCHA for one of my nieces.

This owl was getting banded and tagged by the Rocky Point Bird Observatory. For the owl’s safety, he/she was wrapped up.

These photos…🤣🦉. So cute.
