I'm losing my mind trying to develop a skill system that's not about spending XP points, but about actually discovering and developing skills and faculties ONLY through play (with multiple ways of doing so)

It's starting to click guys 😭!!!

Need more developers making these decomps to take stances like this, so tired of lazy assholes vibe coding their decomps because they don't give a shit about their own product.
A developer who led on a fan-created PC 'decomp' port of Banjo-Kazooie says people using AI to rush out other ports (including a new Banjo-Tooie one) are in a "race to the bottom" which is "disrespectful" to decomp tool creators.

DarioSamo says a recent AI-decompiled Banjo-Tooie port is nothing to do with him…

Decided to write a blog post for once instead of a long ass thread. otherheaven.net/blog/wheelof...

Glad I did 😌, there was no way I was fitting 3000 words onto this platform. It's about those Game Recomps and AI Game Mashups that have popped up recently. Sorry for the mess.

Since the news that Activation has gobbled up the Halo IP, it has made me reflect on why Halo seems like such a cursed franchise since Reach, and of course it's not a studio thing. Studio culture is as fake as the people who pretend we still work in flat creative structures and not hierarchies.(1/2)

Just had a random flash of nostalgia for 2016 where I finally sat down to play my legit favorite Final Fantasy game and one of my top 5 games of all time, and it's not even close. I miss it, but I'm also kinda glad I stopped before it apparently got bad 💀 Special times.

Was playing Cyberpunk 2077 (alongside Far Cry 2) to get a feel for first person driving, and though I'm not sure I got anything that valuable from it, I did get a lot from the movement. There's small nuances in things like the slide that grant it weight and give you finer control after it ends.

Just caught up on the Cara situation and it's insane how legitimately disgusting some of these scrapists behave. But I also recognize that no amount of legislation can guard against what is essentially a mudslide. The only real solution is a poisoned output. Glaze and other tech need a real boost.

Dog who tf designed these juicers?? You have to run it WHILE you put fruit in???? I just processed like 3 gallons worth of limes (got them for free) and I'm COVERED in pulp.

Thank god the worst parts are dishwasher safe, but still!

Fucking grim
www.gamesradar.com/games/survey...
There's a broader conversation here of *why* we create, *what* we create, and *who* we create for, but for this context, I think the (cultural) who is most important. Consumers are not Gamers. Hell, even gamer is a generalization. (🧵 I guess)
Survey finds only 31% of Steam users have a problem with AI in games, with 43% totally fine with it
Only 8% said they wouldn't play a game with AI under any circumstance

Just stumbled across the new Divine Machinery aesthetic and it's not quite what I thought it'd be. We've had memes about the 72 demons from King Solomon's Ars Goetia being bound by the traces of a circuit board and we've also had plenty of Deus Ex Machina. Machine God stuff. 1/2

considering a voxel lighting algorithm that lights each voxel a uniform amount based on a calculated normal instead of using the cubic faces of each voxel.

Got a proof of concept working but now need better demo assets. Anyone have pixel-art quality voxel assets for me to try?
