New paper from me, out soon in Behavior Research Methods: I'm a lil bit obsessed with good online recruitment and the result is this side-quest paper that made use of data we had collected that recruited people online in three ways (met them on Zoom, validated their email, and Prolific).

This is an *excellent* post on cluster analysis. If you ever thought about applying cluster, latent class or latent profile analysis to psychological scales, you absolutely should read this!>
New blog post: "Cluster analysis: A skeptic’s guide".

In which I ask a few questions that social scientists wishing to identify hidden classes in their data ought to address.

What value are you actually bringing as a mentor if you do this. It would’ve been more helpful to not say anything

Pitching a new series: The Wire (Mother)
Netflix has announced a new reality series titled ‘THE NEW STANFORD PRISON EXPERIMENT’.

The series follows 30 participants who enter a real prison and are randomly assigned as guards or prisoners. They must see if they conform to the roles or if morality wins.

I was gonna say Hank Hill but information from the new season makes me believe he has too much ambition. Dale on the other hand sits in the "weird m#therf#cker group" where he becomes obsessed by the ring, but it is not due to the ring's influence and the ring is actually trying to escape
Name a non-LOTR character who could resist the one ring.

*not understanding causal inference* oh good i’m in the age group most commonly represented in academia (35-68) so that’ll help with my job apps
“Just 1.7 per cent of professors were 65 or older in 2000. By 2024, that proportion had risen to 12.1 per cent. One-quarter of full-time Canadian academic staff are now over age 60, while less than 15 per cent are under 40. There are now more professors aged 69 or older than under 35.”

Ok is every psychologist dabbling in fraud doing a bit
Reviews point out that it reads like AI slop, so I checked.

The book contains 58 references to scientific articles and books. At least 6 are completely hallucinated. Several other are articles irrelevant to the claim.

This is ironic given the author's public statements regarding AI and its misuse.

The AI industry claims their products will "improve efficiency" and "accelerate science" but I'm able to do less science because I have to spend more time screening applicants to my lab. LLM noise drowns out signal- last year I shortlisted unqualified apps, and surely missed some gems.
You’ve also hit on why the tech sector is broken. Post a job on any job board and you have 500 resumes generated off of your exact job description by the end of the day. Companies still need good engineers and there are a ton of good engineers looking for jobs but they can’t connect anymore
