Hello Liverpool - the next stop on our 'conversations about extreme wealth' tour. Here, child poverty is higher than the national average, and if you live in a deprived area, you can expect to live 15 years less than someone in a more affluent one.

Why an Extreme Wealth Line? Because unchecked wealth harms democracy, society & the planet, says @ingridrobeyns.bsky.social

Peers are set to pick up the baton on the long-running campaign to cap political donations.

Julia made the case for action on Big Money in politics: a cap has to apply to all individuals, so our politics can serve the British people, not individual mega donors.

One billionaire allegedly packs his bags and suddenly it's "tax exodus" panic. Our member @stephenstroud.bsky.social went on Times Radio to set the record straight.

Even with a wealth tax, millionaires like us will still be richer at the end of the year than we were at the start.

PMUK's @stephenstroud.bsky.social explains why a 2% tax on wealth over £10m is fair, common sense and needed. Watch the full report on inequality via @deutschewelle.dw.com on YouTube

PMUK's @stephenstroud.bsky.social spoke to @deutschewelle.dw.com about the scale of inequality in the UK — and why taxing wealth properly is essential to tackling it.

Beyond a certain point, concentrated wealth is dangerous: to democracy, to the climate, to the cost of living for everyone. The UK can take an active role in the global fightback.

What is too much money? That's something we don't talk about enough as a country where the wealth divide is spiralling out of control.

So we headed to Poole - a town split between the super-rich and everyone else - to talk about it, and how it affects everything from jobs to house prices.

We're touring the country to hear from residents in four areas where the divide between the super-rich and ordinary people is especially stark.

PMUK's Julia Davies headed to Poole to chat to the community about how their lives are being affected and where we draw the line on extreme wealth.

What am I missing here? If we have a strong economy, surely we can risk loading a bit more tax on the very wealthy.
If not now , when?

A wealth tax is common sense, not rocket science. Of course people - including millionaires like us - overwhelmingly support it. £24bn a year for our country could be raised with a tiny 2% tax on wealth over £10m. It's time to #TaxTheSuperRich
Neil Kinnock has urged Andy Burnham to increase tax on assets as a new poll reveals two-thirds of voters back the introduction of a “wealth tax”

"Tax us more" That's the simple message from more than 120 UK millionaires calling for a tax on extreme wealth.

PMUK member Brian Eno joined Sky News this morning to explain why those with the greatest wealth should contribute more to build a fairer Britain.

Millionaires like us can afford to be taxed more, we want to pay, and we would be proud to pay - because we all want to live in a country that's thriving.

"The concept that it's kicking the rich to ask them to pay a really moderate amount of tax is just such nonsense. Nobody says it's kicking working people when they've got to pay income tax."

Millionaires like Julia and @garyseconomics.bsky.social want to be taxed more. The Govt must listen.

"We've got to stop normalising this idea that it's normal to try and avoid contributing to public services and infrastructure if you can massively afford to do that."

Looks like a wealth tax is an ace with the Great British public - as Brighty Buoy found out at Wimbledon.

Do you support a 2% tax on wealth over £10m?
July 12, 2026 at 10:01 AM
It doesn’t take big balls to tax the super rich. Unfortunately Lord Christian Brighty thinks even little balls are too much share!
