Every year, thousands of marine animals are killed through accidental capture or 'bycatch' in fishing gear.

Today, Peers will ask the Govt for an update on plans to reduce these avoidable deaths – which @wclnews.bsky.social estimates show are shocking and the true scale likely much higher

The #FinancialServicesBill is before the Lords today. There are major reforms to financial regulation and banking, but no mention of #climate & #nature. We’re working with Peers to spotlight the financial system's role in driving green growth and managing + adapting to climate risks

Later in the #Lords, Peers will debate progress on cutting emissions and reducing wasted gas from venting and flaring - still a major issue in the North Sea.

Estimates suggest the gas lost each year would be worth around £300m at today’s prices, enough to heat 570,000 homes.

Today in the Lords @earlrussell.bsky.social has an Oral Question on venting and flaring, and progress made on reducing it in the North Sea.

Estimates by Green Alliance suggest the gas lost in 2024 would be worth around £300m at today’s prices, and crucially enough to heat 570,000 homes.

A major #Climate&Nature concession put forward by govt. in Lords stages of #PensionSchemesBill as response to P4P Peers cross-party amendment backed by @ShareAction & others, is being debated now. The proposal would help pension trustees act for savers on systemic risks including climate and nature.
