SNF has the good goalpost mics, I'll tell you what. A visceral, resonant doink.

Deeply weird if the way to re-establish shared reality is, "People trust Wikipedia summaries, but they have to be laundered through a magic oracle."
Unpopular opinion: LLMs are generally deradicalizing people whose beliefs are based on pure propaganda.

I've been watching this happen slowly with some people I care about. ChatGPT is one of the reasons they finally accept that the NRA, OAN, and NewsMax are lying to them.

Really by the 19th century they were conquering the world for rubber and guano, and you never see them eating that stuff either.
I'm kinda fully over that "the British conquered the world for spices and don't use any of them" joke because for one, you cannot recycle material for 5 straight generations and get a laugh worth a damn but also because in order to make it you have to agree with Tommy Robinson about who is British

So, fun fact: ever since 1994, and Newt Gingrich's "Contract with America" campaign stunt, Congress has had a SERIOUS problem with subject-matter expertise and institutional memory. It's why Congress has such a deep and complicated relationship with lobbyists. 1/
PSA that lobbying is just "talking to Congress for a living." It's a job description, same as being a software engineer.

Good scramble there, Case Keenum. Never do it again.

I collect dead ends, special Munich edition. 8/28/26, west bank of the Isar, a bit south of the jarringly-named John-F.-Kennedy-Brücke.

One thing about living in a large new-build apartment building is that you start to think seriously about banning fire alarms.

The guy I usually remember is a different Alex Gonzalez, but I remember this guy because he was the other Alex Gonzalez.

Impossible to overstate how much of a stupid asshole Bret Stephens is.

I haven't tried it personally, but Kenneth Walker seems hard to tackle.

Upon reflection, I was not as ready for some football as I had previously represented.

I can't tell anybody how to feel, but Democrats were clearly better at protecting abortion rights when they had a bunch of nominally pro-life electeds and a Senate majority than when they had neither of those things.

Now that I've ridden Spanish high-speed rail, I'm even more convinced that there were better ways to spend trillions of dollars in the 2000s than invading and occupying multiple countries in the Middle East.

I was the same age, and as much as we were all collectively horrified by what we saw, the immediate turn to indiscriminate revenge by some of our teachers has stuck with me too.
I was 15 on 9/11. I most clearly remember watching TV for my entire Spanish class, where my teacher (who I liked a lot) openly endorsed Christianity, and the shop teacher saying "we should bomb them back to the stone age and start over" and "you don't have to get close with a nuclear weapon"

Yeah, I'm politically engaged. Every day I send a dozen text messages with the word "STOP."

I thought to myself, "Well, nobody would expect Stafford to sneak here." And they didn't! But there's a reason nobody expected it.

Maybe it's because I've just been in the Picasso Museum, but I think there's a real debt to Picasso in this work.

Somehow the Málaga Metro, which is essentially light rail, has a station with two underground track levels *and* a full-length mezzanine level. I have never been more jealous of Spanish construction costs.

You still can't make me learn who Hasan Piker is. I won't do it. A streamer? That's nice, how many crimes did members of the Cabinet do today?

This framing seems a little disagreeable but it's fundamentally the same as my position, which is that social democrats are the true heirs of American liberalism. Mamdani is an incrementalist who actually delivers incremental progress instead of stasis.
Newsletter is out! You might have heard that the far left is ascendant and the Democratic establishment is out of ideas. Well, it sure seems like those left wing candidates are adopting the establishment's positions! link.heartlandsignal.com/v/443/b6619d...

There are lots of data centers in the United States, and data center defenders tend to think of these "normal" existing data centers. But the marginal AI data center is an unlicensed power plant.
NEW: Thermal drone footage shows the Microsoft-backed DataOne AI data center in Vineland, NJ is running dozens of gas generators.

None of them have permits.
