I’m thrilled to be joining the Malden School Committee!

There are so many projects I’m excited to work on, but first, many thanks to the good people of Ward 6 for giving me the chance to rep their interests/concerns & many thanks to this crew of volunteers, who are undefeated political organizers.

Uhh @bostonglobe.com whut is this line?

"A major difference between the Brown v. Board of Education era and today is there is no evidence the current segregation is motivated by racism or discrimination. Poverty and geography are now the driving forces."

New paper w/ @ashleyjcarey.bsky.social looks at how non-binary students are erased in state data sets.

Basic arg is: When we have better data, we are better able to see students who are otherwise erased in the binary. We can also work to make things better for them.

Normally, it’d be strange for the federal government to bully a teenager by name (and laced with slurs) to the point that he’d have to leave the SOTU to find safety. But, here we are.

@billshaner.bsky.social reporting is stellar.

There are serious repercussions from this conviction & prosecution. Beyond the personal cost, this is about chilling community defense & police misconduct enabled by prosecutorial discretion.

100%. Rosane Ferreira-De Oliveira came into the United States as an asylum seeker. Won her asylum case and was NOT the subject of DHS's abduction. They used her daughters and the infant to lure her, violentely and unlawfully detain her and spread lies about her.
The DHS assistant secretary has apparently forgotten that the woman they were attempting to abduct was legally present, not a criminal, and not violent. In fact, that characterization was based on lies DHS inserted into their own public statement, released days before WPD addressed the issue.
I’ll keep protecting my neighbors, until state sanctioned violence & kidnapping of immigrants ends.

Major props to @billshaner.bsky.social for spending two days in court documenting the trial, the details and for also just being an outstanding G as my young son called him when Bill lent Danny a charger. We are fortunate to have Bill’s outstanding work & analysis.
They showed they’re willing and able to selectively charge ppl for political purposes and the court showed us they’re active facilitators and collaborators in all of that, eroding any notion they administer a fair system or are concerned at all with justice. So who lost exactly?
