Woken up at 5am by the smell of burning...no fires near us, but the wind has changed direction and is blowing the smoke from the huge wildfires in the Gironde towards us. As the crow flies, it's 101 miles (162km) away. The lights from the château show the smoke in the valley 😢

1st dose of shingles vaccine administered this morning...told to avoid the heat and lie down for the rest of the day. Excellent advice!

As an aside from everything else that's going on, anyone who uses the Strava app, are you aware they're running a thing with postcode lottery to give a donation to a small group of charities when you sign up to their Crowns for Causes challenge. It runs for another 2 months and Guide Dogs is one 1/2
