Andy Burnham's comments today expose the situation of selling national football teams to foreign states. He's taking a view, at least in one reading of his comments, that corrupting the national game is not as big an issue as potentially losing foreign investment in Manchester.

Yeah not the one sorry peeps, try something not linked to still unpunished child abuse allegations.
'The Pepstein files' is one of those things that sounds funny until you actually think about it and realise what you're comparing.

Interesting that 3 ex players don't think titles should be stripped. Wonder why.

They should've, but we should also loudly protest our partnership with we never have. We never had a real protest for Visit Rwanda, nor against Thomas Partey. A lot of Arsenal fans wanted Usmanov.

It's them but it could've been us or any other club. It's pathetic. It's past time to wake up.
Should’ve been protesting the takeover - their owners are utter bastards.

Listening to this athletic podcast and think Ornstein is being too kind to city. Especially in light of the PL statement.

I keep seeing the term triple lock and people keep telling me what it means but I just can't retain it. Feels like someone else's problem to worry about, pensions won't exist when I need it and I'll be living in a shoe.

Did they spike the market just to be spiteful then?
So for all the chatter about the ruling's potential impacts on the City players, either their new signings were lied to about the charges by Man City or their new signings were informed & signed with full knowledge of who they were joining (and presumably made comfortable in their contracts)
Man City learned of guilty verdicts in summer before transfer activity - sources
Manchester City were first informed that they had been found guilty of more than 100 breaches of the Premier League's financial rules in the summer, sources told ESPN, before spending heavily in the transfer market.

Here’s the most incredible story you’ll read today.

A small plane with four people aboard crashes in a field.

Another pilot witnesses it. That pilot happens to be flying a bunch of skydivers. They offer to jump to assist, are given permission.

The skydivers happen to be EMTs. Everyone survives.
Skydivers alert emergency crews, assist after plane crashes near East Troy airport
Four people were aboard the single-engine plane when it went down in a cornfield near Carvers School Road in East Troy at about 1:30 p.m.

Remember the picture of the little boy Alan Kurdi dead on that beach after fleeing Syria and we were all sad. 11 years ago. Things are even harsher now than then and apparently that's the only way we can solve this issue.

As unprofessional as it may be, I suspect I will be shouting "we have been saying this for years" a lot today. Harsher immigration policies don't just ruin individual lives, they damage the economy, reduce jobs, and generally harm the whole country.
The Times - which has v much joined in the rightwing clamour to reduce immigration - now reporting that Mahmood’s “success” has cost the economy £4- to £7Bn.
Would they like to now honestly confirm that fewer people = less spending power for all.
There’s a high price to pay for this nasty obsession.
