Sort of insane fact about how broken US urban planning is—America now spends more building *just the lights for roads and highways* than on all subways & ground mass transit combined

Spending on roadway *pavement* is 18x transit spending

Shout-out to the lady on NPR in Maine who is all "Fuel and everything is way more expensive and we need help but I'm still supporting Trump and Collins"

Why y'all like this.

A sign there is little confidence in the future of this project, next time can we please please please do public works projects with a clear public benefit (rail!) and give those contracts to disadvantaged communities rather than with the weird evil freeway expansion bs
Raimore Construction will exit the I-5 Rose Quarter project early next year, citing its "business needs as the project's schedule, funding and anticipated construction opportunities have evolved."

Ebikes are fucking great. Mine has a throttle along with pedal assist. It has increased my mobility and helped connect me with my city. My biggest complaints are cars driving recklessly and street conditions on neighborhood greenways.

Hey dipshit, STV Ranked Choice is proven to yield actual proportional representation instead of this crusty first past the post bullshit we've been doing for 250 years.

Now Rapid Reponse has shown up where the cops were before to ruin more people's lives.

Portland spends like $10 million dollars a year on Rapid Response, a private contractor.

How much wrap around services and rent at low income housing could we provide with $10 million a year?

Allan Classen, the editor of the NW Examiner, has chosen to exclude us and @jameyevenstar.bsky.social from their Candidate Debate by saying we haven’t raised enough money. Our campaign has raised over $130k and we’ve remained steadily ahead of Eric Zimmerman in contributions. This is a bad look.

I have been thinking about this so much, and it's such a relief to see our local leaders step forward and articulate the importance of bold local governance in the Trump 2.0 era.

If ur a moderate voter, I beg you to reconsider how realistic your politics are against federal vengeance on cities.
To those that say that this isn’t a local jurisdictions purview, Congress should do it, I’d ask, do you have my confidence Trump or Congress will save us anytime soon? They don’t have the votes. They don’t have the guts. If we don’t act locally the public sector will be privatized and sold for parts

Mitch is going to need extra support for this one because this forum will not include any of the other progressive candidates like myself. They chose to only include the incumbents and Eli Arnold on purpose so it won’t be a very friendly crowd. Turn up and turn out!!
We are entering the phase of the campaign where there will be a ton of forums and debates. We will list them all on my website.

First up: D4 Forum hosted by NW Examiner on 10/5 at Portland Center Stage @5pm

Don’t miss it!

the "don't bring iced coffee to an interview" discourse is great bc it's such a succinct and clarifying example of how private businesses aren't efficient & logical enterprises, they're just arbitrary in-groups ruled by sociopaths, power tripping on their ability to enforce pointless bullshit norms

The Fair Share Tax FAQ is very good reading and basically an economics lecture (laudatory). It's linked on the proposal page but it's a bit unassuming, imagine a lot of people missed it:
