Bad Vibes Only
My dad just butt-dialed me and before I answered I was going through that thing of: my parents are ringing in the middle of the day; what horror has befallen them, and I feel like I'm going to spend the next decade anticipating That Call.

Going in late today as am staying late and having a pleasant morning drinking cortado and reading about Louis Napoleon www.lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v4...
David Todd · Be careful of the buffoon: Louis Napoleon’s Fall
Hegelians will admire the encapsulation of the era’s contradictions in a single individual. Most of us will be puzzled...

Feel like those Save Water advert kids should be taking a leaf out of their French compatriots' book and storming Thames Water.

"Put it away for the big day" is going to ruin autumn just as *picky bits" ruined the summer.

Remember that little kid (who's probably 30 now) who got very upset when T Blair resigned and G Brown took over as PM (and her kindly parents videoed her crying and put it on the internet)? I am like that about Richard Osman leaving House of Games. Feel very uneasy about it. Equilibrium ruined.

Mum: We go out for lunch now rather than dinner. Our world is becoming smaller. That's old age, I suppose.
Also mum: We're off to Malta week after next.

What the motherflip is going on with Jamie Oliver's hair? It's at the same time a fin, a comb-forward, and a mullet. Looks very compensatory.

As it's spooooky season, I've started reading this with the idea of one story a day until Hallowe'en, but the weather is hardly conducive to spooks and spirits at present.

People born at the beginning of October: you do know you're parents had a bunk up on New Year's Eve don't you? Probably under the coats at a house party. (Mine is hardly better - an August bank holiday conception).

Just had an email with this signature: "I work flexibly so I’m sending this message now because it works for me. Feel free to read, act on, or respond at a time that works for you."

Such a relief a person in power has actually said it, rather than the feeling of being gaslit for the last 10 years.

What is the worst council website and why is it Newham's?

People no longer say: gimme the skinny or: give me the 411, and
I think that's a shame.

This came up on FB memories as 16 years ago. It is actually 1988 on the Southbank before it was a Destination.

Cottage cheese has made an '80s comeback due to Gen Z's obsession with protein, so surely it's time for fromage frais to shine once more.

Email from 3 saying my plan has ended and I can get a cheaper deal with more data. But is the hassle and harassment I'm going to have with someone - who'll attempt to get me to sign up to a more expensive plan or try and fool me into signing up to extras - worth that £12 less per year?

Idea: Black Paper Lace.
Paper Lace songs in the style of Black Lace. Or maybe vice-versa.

I am in a white van on the M1 eating a sausage* roll. Feel like I should be ringing up Talk Radio and getting angry about football.
