Anthropic may not have intended to write an excellent ad for GLM 5.3, but that's what they did.

www.anthropic.com/research/glm...

Unlike Mythos, I might actually have a chance at using GLM for defensive research. Anthropic didn't reply to any of my requests for Mythos access for use on OpenSSH.
GLM-5.3 and the spread of advanced cyber capabilities
GLM-5.3 can autonomously build end-to-end cyber exploits, but unlike other frontier models, it was released without meaningful safeguards to limit misuse.

@governor.ca.gov Thanks for giving us your utter contempt, on this and the Paramount BS. In return I give you mine in the form of supporting my union’s strike authorization and a promise to campaign against you forever more.
@governor.ca.gov AB 1729 passed with a vote of 31-6. Can you please sign it and stop screwing with my livelihood? Also, start bargaining in good faith. Thanks.

This aired just the once in 1998 on the live SNL show for which McKay wrote it.
It was effectively banned as it never aired again.

I wonder why.

Data science teams at DraftKings built models to identify likely losers and target them with promotions, while efforts to build predictive models for problem gambling were shelved.

The counterpoint on self regulation is companies can be more incentivized to avoid identifying harm than addressing it
At DraftKings, AI Targets the Gamblers Likeliest to Lose (Gift Article)
Data science helps determine who receives betting incentives, but the company has resisted using similar technology to protect gamblers at risk of addiction.

Precisely this—the power attributed to technology makes it incredibly useful for laundering responsibility
The AI industry wants you to say "the AI just did that thing on its own!"

Like, United Health's AI that's denying a shitload of claims with a 90% error rate? They wanted you to think it's just the AI.

A rewrite this size wasn't affordable before agents. Here's what porting the Copilot agent runtime to 800,000 lines of production Rust actually took.

Billionaires: IF YOU MAKE US PAY TAXES, WE'LL LEAVE CALIFORNIA. WE MEAN IT.

Me: No you don't. None of you ever does.

Billionaires: YUH HUH. IF YOU RAISE OUR TAXES, WE'RE GONNA LEAVE

Me: You're not contributing tax revenue to the state. Why do I care where you live?

This Flock camera is running obsolete, end-of-life software.

- It's on Android 8.1, released in 2017, support ended in 2021
- It's on Android patch level 2018-06-5
- It's running Linux 3.18, released in 2017

This shit is like 8 or 9 years old, and full of vulnerabilities.

I wrote this quickly at a bus stop and didn't realize it would go viral, or else I would have worded it better. But the point is that the media is too credulous about AI killing everyone in 10 years (how?) when climate change is killing people now and will only get worse (we know exactly how).
I resigned from ExxonMobil today. I spent the last three years doing fossil fuel extraction research at both BP and ExxonMobil. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing to maximize extraction while the window to act closes, and gambling with our lives. More below.

Just did a quick look around and I don't see very many headlines about the President of the US making people pledge allegiance to him personally while telling everyone to commit election fraud and "cheat like hell" to support his party.

Seems like it should be a story?
Trump: "Please right your right hand. I pledge to the greatest president in the history of the United States. That loves us so much he can't even breath. That I will go out with my family, my friends, I'll do it any way - I don't care if I'm registered or not, I'm going to try to cheat like hell..."

Or maybe it wasn't waiting. Maybe it was already happening. This week a...
