this is a recurring thing that bothers me immensely. Treating morose or tragic or mean fiction as some sort of adults-only environment, despite that when I watched The Last Unicorn as a child my brain didn't notice harpy tits because I was transfixed by the animation and Amalthea's body horror.
Yeah, this is the piece I want to read. We all knew that Where the Red Fern Grows was sad! This was the point of the book! Your real-life childhood dog will die too and that's why there is art about it!

I feel like it’s reflective of something broader that social media has brought on. There’s a cycle where people are less open to media that makes them uncomfortable and companies are more squeamish about making media that can be uncomfortable.
