I know there's not much of a chance newspapers will print this one but you can't have a word like 'ballroom' and expect me not to do a joke about it.

You know what is exhausting? Being a woman this fucking week.

TW: obviously.

If only...
35 years ago today, after witnessing the bribing of a US senator, a disillusioned Lisa Simpson gave an impromptu fiery anti-American speech at a national essay contest at the Kennedy Center.

#TheSimpsons episode “Mr. Lisa Goes to Washington” first aired September 26, 1991.

What a mentor to have as kids!
My 50 year Little League volunteer dad, who retired as administrator for half of our state, would cry broken-hearted tears at some of these comments

In 2001 in our small farm town, he allowed a child named Ash to play on a boys' team & keep their birth certificate private between the parents & Dad
Outside the obvious timebomb of selling out trans kids to appeal to ~16 bigots in deep Ohio, an underplayed part of the whole "trans kids in youth sports" stuff is making the most psycho Little League parents the most important political demo in America. They're joy vampires for the kids themselves!

Historically, arches are often associated with triumphs, I think, usually related to war. Triumph often means winning. But what do I know... 😒

Enjoy the whole thread!
The UK countryside is full of interdimensional portals. You just have to know where to look. I've decided to make a thread here of some of the best ones I've found on walks.

1. JRR Tolkien's Psychedelic Lime Kiln.

Reading, (well, listening to an audiobook,) of Robert Caro's "The Power Broker" about Robert Moses. Media kowtowing to power is nothing new, especially NYT. Surprisingly, the Post was among the good guys. So much parallel to today, but also interesting contrasts in personnel.

Storks join Independence Day celebration in Kiev.
I hope you like this too.
On the day when Ukraine celebrates its (re)birth and 35 years of independence from Moscow's tyranny, how appropriate for Kyiv to be visited by a phalanx of storks, putting on a different sort of show for the people of Kyiv.

While Prime Minister Chris has survived leadership challenges from MP Chris (today) and MP Chris (recently), this instability bodes ill for election chances against Former Prime Minister Chris

Saw a younger-than-me woman with a medium-large white dog with brown spots toss a poo bag into the bin at the park. I conveyed I hoped he appreciated her effort, to which, after a couple of seconds, she replied: "I think he'll say I'm weird."

Touché, madam. Touché!!

Today marks 6 years of reimagining the Antioch clasped hands chalk drawing. It's the only drawing we've redone (reused ideas have been in different locations). I like seeing all the different versions of it together as I brainstorm what to make to greet students for the new school year.

WHY ROME FELL

"Concern with displaying affluence instead of building wealth;
Obsession with sex and perversions of sex; Art becomes freakish and sensationalistic instead of creative and original; Widening disparity between rich and poor; Increased demand to live off the state.”
