I’m annoyed that Delta plays, as it’s boarding music, what I expected to dance to at the Bridgerton Ball. I’m not annoyed it’s on Delta, I’m annoyed it wasn’t at the Ball!!

This is a really good and interesting paper about LLM-generated legal research and writing that argues that the problem manifested by using these tools in this context is not just "hallucination" or factual inaccuracy, but a failure of "legal warrant." arxiv.org/pdf/2609.17546

That ensures no girl ever again qualifies for National Honor Society, Valedictorian/Salutatorian, whatever they use as Dean’s List (top 5%), since no boy will ever have his grades destroyed by a typically irregular teenage menstrual cycle.

and we wonder why so many people hate exercise.

i'm not over Alito saying we shouldn't count ballots that are mailed on or before Election Day but arrive shortly afterwards bc they can “radically flip” the “apparent outcome”

cannot stress enough that, until all ballots are counted, there's no outcome to flip!

It was confirmed yesterday that the centre left coalition won the election in Sweden

As predicted, with the far right performing poorly, coverage has almost entirely vanished from international media
You may be relieved but spare a thought for so many editors in the mainstream media who were hoping to run hyping headlines about the far right winning in Sweden

As always when SD is hyped and ends up crashing, I expect Swedish politics will drop off the radar as it's no longer sexy enough
Sweden, Novus exit poll:

Seat projection national parliament

S-S&D: 101 (-6)
SD-ECR: 66 (-7)
M-EPP: 62 (-6)
C-RE: 32 (+8)
MP-G/EFA: 25 (+7)
V-LEFT: 24
KD-EPP: 21 (+2)
L-RE: 18 (+2)

Interesting: The most corrupt president in American history: a corruption model.

Nixon scored 41 and no other American President scored over a 25. Trump's second term scored a 91, which ties him with Suharto and Mobutu, above Marcos and Abacha.

I love RSA's decision to issue its press release in Afrikaans. I can understand a lot because of my Dutch. It refers to the US gov't's reliance on the accounts of those who purport to represent all Afrikaners—so responding in Afrikaans, which is spoken by many people of all races, is a nice touch.
South Africa's foreign ministry has put out a response to the US visa restrictions, so far only in Afrikaans (something I've not seen it do before).

As far as I can tell, the statement says the US is aligning itself with "misrepresentations" of govt policy promoted by Afrikaner fringe groups

You can see the BS in every line of this article. Quotes cops, business owners and industry insiders. Implies it's hurting "communities" (as distinct from businesses). Assumes more CCTV cameras and tougher sentences are solutions. Claims it makes employees afraid to go to work.
Headline: 'Shoplifting has become totally normalised': The crime blighting communities across England'

What's 'normalised' is poverty. What 'blights' is poverty. Without poverty, the only shoplifting would be the cri(m)es for help of the guilty, filthy rich.

This is what I keep coming back to. If Democratic politicians can't win their base, and they need their base to win, then surely your issue must be with the Democratic politicians, not the voters?
This quite literally is not true, but if it were then the Dem party response is even more unhinged.

If an extremely politically activates part of your base is throwing elections because you're running right, why do you think doing it again will work?
"why are liberals so on edge about voting abstention?"
