Great passage from #TheExpanse:

The sad fact of the human species that he understood so well was that you could never overcome tribalism and jingoism with an argument. Tribalism was an irrational position, and it was impossible to defeat an irrational position with a rational argument.
He reminds me of the Jude Law character in Contagion....

My career-limiting flaw in corporate America was I could never be this big of a kiss ass
RFK Jr. kisses Trump's ass: I discovered a self-effacing man of superior intelligence, of empathy and compassion, with an encyclopedic grasp of issues in molecular detail, and most of all, a near reckless courage.

Aaron Rodgers is obsessed with his own privacy. His neighbors? Not so much.

After moving to a new town, Rodgers used a cutout to secretly fund the local police department’s Flock-style surveillance program.

I'm loathe to share this man, but this one is personal. My masters thesis was on the MMR controversy, so believe me when I say that this path of separation of the MMR will result in nothing but increased sales of too-small coffins, and children with life-altering medical conditions.
Trump: "The MMR I think should be taken separately. This is based on what I feel."

Someone should tell Trump it's better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt.
Trump: "At one year, you should have 5 separate visits for vaccines rather than getting them all in the same day. I've seen proof of where they have a vaccination thing that looks like the size of a bottle of soda and pour it into a little child's body."

A great story as long as the listener doesn’t understand how these things actually work…
Hassett: "Data centers are very good for towns bc they create so many jobs & bring people in with high incomes that can buy houses & stuff like that. So if you take a sleepy town that hasn't seen much in the last 30 years & put a data center there, there are gonna be a bunch of happy residents."

A few weeks ago I shared my view that prediction markets like Kalshi and Polymarket should be made illegal.

Today it was announced that Kalshi is now taking bets on FDA drug approvals and clinical trial outcomes.

These markets are metastasizing and nothing good can come of it.
Kalshi to allow bets on clinical trials, FDA decisions
Prediction market platform Kalshi will start taking bets on the outcomes of clinical trials and FDA regulatory reviews, it said on Thursday, making drug-development odds public for the first time.

Early in Trump's first term, David Frum wrote that every time Trump and MAGA say "the deep state" you should hear "rule of law," then it'll make more sense.

That stuck with me. And I thought of it again as an unqualified and unconfirmed director of national intelligence conducts political purges.
BREAKING on MS NOW:

Dozens of intel officials have started receiving notice of their terminations under Trump's unqualified acting DNI, Bill Pulte.

The individuals are officials "who they believe are deep state" and whom leadership claims have not provided complete pictures of available intel.

A reminder: The Attorney General of the United States should be the people's lawyer, not the president's personal attorney. The Department of Justice should act to protect the public, not the occupant of the Oval Office and his political allies.

Looking forward to the segment on Fox News about the Trump crime family..... Oh, wait....
The White House intervened to get a $620 million deal for a company tied to Don Jr.

The request was made by top aide Peter Navarro.

Of the dozens of companies the Pentagon was considering funding at the time, the Don Jr.-linked company was the only deal initiated by a top aide to Trump.

About three months before the Pentagon announced plans to lend money to Vulcan Elements, Trump Jr.’s venture capital firm took an undisclosed stake in the company.

One story that sums up the grift, graft and 'morality' of Trump's America.
Meet Robert Morris, who served on Donald Trump’s evangelical advisory board. As Trump's spiritual advisor, he founded a Texas megachurch, then pled guilty to 5 counts of child molestation.

He only served 6 months. He’s already home. Full story: letsaddresstexas.substack.com/p/trumps-spi...
