BBC News reporting that everyday items have been unearthed during the renovation of Buckingham Palace. It seems HM the Queen Mother had a whale of a time. 😉

This must be the third video of wonderful voices singing global scales I have seen, and each is mesmerising and has taught me things I didn't know. Such as: That these scales exist and how they, the bare backbone of tunes, reflect and unlock whole world regions' music. This is amazing.

Just some Youtube gems if anyone's interested.
1. Roger Barnes. Eccentric dinghy sailing.
2. Rick Beato. Deep dives into classic prog/rock songs.
3. The Mindful Narrowboat. FAB weekly canal blog.
4. WW2 Headquarters. Al Murray & James Holland war waffle.

Thought of the day.
The British WW1 phonetic alphabet was much more entertaining than the present one. Glorious Britishisms throughout: Freddie, Monkey, Nuts, Orange, Pip, Yorker.

New British bank notes compromise solution.

Put the characters from the Wind in the Willows on the bank notes nobody uses. Churchill & Mr Toad are very similar. Add Ratty, Mole & Mr Badger to make the set.

Excited about this new Ken Burns documentary. I can't help but think, all things considered, you guys would have been better off sticking with George III. Afterall he was at least a constitutional monarch and a devolution settlement should have been possible.

Florence & the Machine on Later with Jools Holland.
She's still so good.

Noah Caluori 19. Five tries (+ a penalty try that was his) on first team starting debut. Glides like Guscott and leaps like a salmon. He will play for England & the Lions. Privileged to have been there to see a super star born. Just WOW!

Well this is a wonderful film on BBC2. Turns out the real life of Harriet Tubman was even more extraordinary than the movie. After escaping north she went back and helped dozens more run free, fought for the Union and was a suffragette. Died 91 years old. Wow.

This latest series of Blue Lights is a cut above most TV cop shows. A really well done slow burn psychological thriller with many topical strands carefully woven in.

Brilliant, brilliant achievement by England Rugby, well done ladies. You know this all started with school sports partnerships some 20 years ago when Tag Rugby got into so many primary schools. A word for Canada who crowd funded their way here & beat NZ too. 🍾🎉

The Volksempfanger (people's radio) was introduced by Dr Goebbels in 1935. The Nazi Party provided every German household with a free radio so that propaganda could be beamed into every home. Now does Musk's ownership of X and Fox News' interest in Tik-Tok make sense?

Some historical orthodoxies I'm not having.
1. The Anglo-Saxon settlement was all sweetness and light.
2. School kids need to be taught about the Tudors.
3. England doesn't do revolutions.
4. WW2 was largely won on the Eastern Front.

Sunday night TV and Freddie Flintoff is single handedly saving souls, communities and the world. Give this man a knighthood and role out sport engagement across every city in the country. This is what real patriotism looks like.

Anyone fancy helping out this cute doggie Henry who has cancer and needs surgery?

If you can't chip in, please pass this on so perhaps others can 🙏
As some of you know by now, I am terrible at asking for help. But I'm really stuck right now. My big beautiful security blanket, Henry has cancer & needs surgery. If you could possibly chip in & or share, I'd be incredibly grateful🙏 ✊️✌️💞
