Remember when we would share the games, CDs, DVDs etc that we owned? Now, we tend to have lots of content at our fingertips, but we don't own it, so we can't share it. This is one of the many ways digital distribution takes power away from consumers.

The govt is complicit in this in not being vocal enough, not calling out the racism motivating these people, and not acting quickly enough to interfere with their operations.
