We see this over and over again. Gen Z and Gen alpha are asking us to not let this happen to their world, and Boomer and Gen X administrators are shoving it down their throats with some help from Millennial faculty who are in doomer mode
The Daily Princetonian has published some student reactions to the announcement that the university is giving them all ChatGPT access and -- as most teachers will tell you -- none of the students actually want this garbage.

Mahmood's idea of "fairness" seems to be that she wasn't able to get everything her way - but it's a radical lurch to right, going further than the Tories did.

Even worse the changes she's pushing through will take place retrospectively - a nasty shock for many on 5-year visas.

In Germany a couple of days ago, anti fascists foiled a neo-Nazi arson attack on a refugee shelter which would have killed several people. In the report below are a series of messages as extreme as you can get: rte would-be attackers were teenagers, 15 and 19 years old.

To be clear, 'softening' just means that not some migrants won't be treated as badly as all other migrants, but it'll still be bad.

Labour is very right-wing.

The UK Jewish Bloc has been granted permission to intervene in the Supreme Court Appeal against the proscription on Palestine Action, meaning Jewish voices will present evidence in support of Huda Ammori’s case, countering the lies & absurdities on which the proscription relies.

ICYMI: Trans+ civil service, prison and probation staff members have been told they "must not use single-sex facilities designated for your affirmed gender".
Trans prison staff "must" disclose identity to manager if they search prisoners under new rules
New guidelines seen by QueerAF set out that trans prison officers who perform duties "segregated by sex", like searching prisoners, "must tell" their manager they are, have, or are planning to transition.

One thing we should learn from the Brazilian case is to stop replying to fascist rhetoric. It made no difference to this person that thousands found her post disgusting. If anything, she enjoyed the attention.

Please, just please, block these people immediately. Zero engagement.

Painfully ironic that despite being told by Republicans and centrists for over a decade that Muslims wouldn't support people like me, the most prominent politicians standing up for trans people in America are all Muslim.
Yesterday, in a hostile 60 Minutes interview with a Bari Weiss acolyte who once called trans kids a “social contagion,” El-Sayed refused to budge on trans rights.

“A failure to show up and fight for that right is a failure to show up and fight for your own.”

Sure seems like a simple principle that a whole lot of people could get behind
"I don't pay my taxes to buy another country a bomb or a tank.

That's Israel, that's Egypt, that's Saudi Arabia, that's Pakistan."

"My interest is making sure that our kids get good schools, that we have functional roads, that we're paying for things like healthcare and childcare."

‘God forbid’ is also something Muslims and Christian Arabs say, and allahu akbar just means ‘god is great’

So yes it would be appropriate to say allahu akbar after a win, and that would be fine and nice

But let’s keep on pretending that post-9/11-style gutter racism isn’t still the norm

Teens 13-15 arrested with excessive use of force causing a fractured arm. All of this over allegedly not paying a $2.35 TTC youth fare.

It has already been documented that Toronto police and fare inspectors use excessive force disproportionately on Black people and clearly it’s not improving.
Police watchdog investigating after boy’s arm fractured during arrest over suspected fare evasion: ‘Miss, what did I do?’
Five teens were arrested after three of the boys told the Star they paid their fares but were aggressively targeted by Toronto police officers.
