I read a lot. I write some. I think it's important to speak up about what’s happening in the U.S. I believe in doing the work to find real solutions & that means supporting research & science. I run https://bsky.app/profile/truthlabexperiment.bsky.social
And this is another reason people need to read @gilduran.com’s book …
the Vice President of the United States has gone on record citing this man as one of his biggest intellectual influences

if you didn't know this, it's probably because for some reason literally no mainstream political media outlets think it's worth mentioning

Had to post my recommendation for The Nerd Reich by @gilduran.com. Finished it last night. Probably the most important book of the year. I’ve read a lot books on the Silicon Valley mafia and AI lately, but this synthesizes everything & shows the danger we all face. Read it & get friends to read it.

Dementia is big issue for me and my family, so hearing about how internal meddling/cuts at NIH might have a negative impact on research into cures/treatments, I was more than a little upset.
My family and I know the impact of dementia well. We can’t let politics and games get in the way of progress and breakthroughs. It was very troubling to hear about this in our conversation with @fromthelabbench.bsky.social.

Sure, sure … democracy is messy and slow, so why not sacrifice a few (or all) of your rights and freedoms to try out the “efficiency” of a moody dictator who can be bribed?
“Democracy has been hailed as, like, the holy grail for the last couple hundred years, but democracies are inefficient,” said the crypto billionaire. “If you get a benevolent dictator, it’s actually extremely efficient."

Hmm, where have I heard this before?

If you’re curious about what’s happening in Brazil and why (and why it matters), read this piece immediately.
Trump's foreign policy is not isolationist. On the contrary, his ideologues want to build an international empire run by far-right political movements who serve American crypto, mineral and tech companies, many with links to the president.

This is the Trump administration and Peter Thiel behind the scenes. I hope people understand that this is terrible news and it should be a warning about November.

I tend to talk a lot about how science and research has taken a beating under this administration, but arts and culture is getting slapped pretty hard as well.
School music programs are getting absolutely bodied by tariffs, per @nytimes.com:

Good grief. In another year or so, we’ll be retroactively surrendering to Nazi Germany and giving a posthumous Medal of Honor to Lee Harvey Oswald, because screw all the history you’ve ever learned in “woke” years.

Creepy Cult Member Carr may be the most gleefully corrupt member of this administration, and that’s saying something.

A short tease from the @truthlabexperiment.bsky.social interview with the fantastic @fromthelabbench.bsky.social … An important topic, along with me in very unflattering lighting (my own fault).
Just a first tease of our discussion with @fromthelabbench.bsky.social … A clip about the issues and stress caused by funding cuts (Note: We also talk about fun stuff too).

Some good stuff coming in this one, including a glimpse at the chaos caused by changes at NIH.
And we’ve got our second interview! Had a great conversation today with @fromthelabbench.bsky.social. Video coming later this week!

To be honest, this should’ve happened a long time ago. They put too much focus on culture war crap.
“.. “We need to get some other voices in there to push back a little bit on this stuff,” said Nancy Danner, who farms thousands of acres of corn and soybeans with her husband, Kevin, in western Iowa. “We need as many changes as we can get.”
