Sound advice re: stinging insects in general. My kid insisted on “petting” every bee we saw on our walk yesterday. He’ll have to learn from experience, I guess. I’m shocked he hasn’t been stung yet. Bees really aren’t eager to sting.
If a yellow jacket does sting you, remember to display no reaction at all and definitely to not swat at or kill the insect as that will bring the others. I once stepped on a ground nest by mistake, was stung once and remained calm and peace returned to the day. (Caveats for those allergic etc.)
