Look I’m not censoring myself because of disingenuous troll behavior. 🤷‍♀️ It’s reaching the intended audience.

Thanks for catching that! Unlike some people, I’m not a professional writer with a team of editors. 🤷‍♀️

The review is primarily aimed at two goals. #1 to let fans know that the characterization is disturbing within the context of the established character and #2 to articulate the actual issues to fans of the author who are getting fed strawn-man arguments. That’s it. BG3 fans are rightly disgusted.

TBH it will make MORE sense to you if you’ve never played the game. Removing the game context, it becomes merely low-effort genre fiction and not actually heinously offensive.
October 7, 2026 at 4:47 PM
“The characterization violated the foundational narrative core of this character in a way that heinously mirrors societal biases against real victims of sexual abuse.”

This book is low-effort genre fiction if it’s an OC. When it’s about Astarion, it becomes simply grotesque parody.

Why don’t you read the full text of my critique instead of relying on vibes and straw-manning? It’s on Medium because Goodreads locked and purged all negative reviews. medium.com/@rockdovelad...

No one called her a sex criminal either. The very narrow focus of my critique is about the way she reframes and portrays the sexual violence within the context of this character’s backstory. I cannot believe you people are genuinely illiterate and not just trolling.
October 7, 2026 at 2:18 PM
Do grown adults really not understand metaphors now or are you just being a troll? That’s rhetorical (no need to answer)
October 6, 2026 at 7:14 PM
You are. You do get to say you find my comment offensive. You’re doing it right now. The only reason I commented on Ray’s post is that I made the mistaken assumption that they wouldn’t want to defend the grotesque handling of SA and valid critiques by this author.
October 6, 2026 at 5:21 PM
What an astonishingly ironic analogy you’ve provided for the importance of reading source material.
October 5, 2026 at 9:43 PM
Again, very weird interpretation of what I wrote. And you clearly didn’t read the book OR my review of it. The rape scene and references to SA in this book are framed in a grotesquely unserious light. She invented entirely new lore to allow him to shake off traumatic dissociation in moments.
October 5, 2026 at 9:36 PM
You know, being a snob about how games aren’t “real art” is kind of dated.
October 5, 2026 at 9:30 PM
Projection much? One of the biggest problems with this book is it makes Astarion too likable as well as sanitizing and minimizing the all SA. Have you read it? Or do you just like shouting over women in public?
October 5, 2026 at 9:28 PM
You may want to clarify that the conclusion my facts don’t support, in your opinion, is that Ursula intentionally lied to fans in the book’s promotion vs just making misleading or deceptive statements.
October 5, 2026 at 7:37 PM
There is a lot and it requires a little background info on the game that is the source material and the book’s promotion. I’m completely open to pointing you in the right direction with links and info to get up to speed on what’s happening here but the char limit is a problem. Feel free to DM me.

Hey, stop weaponizing your trauma to censor people. Take it up with your therapist.
October 4, 2026 at 4:17 PM
Oh my GOD YOU CAN’T LITERALLY CALL SOMEONE A MURDERER BECAUSE YOU DON’T LIKE THEIR WRITING!! 🙄 In seriousness though, and I do know you are being deeply unserious, because that fails to convey the focus of my critique. There are many, many other ways she butchered the character. No one cares.

Yeah, I’ll have no problem and would welcome discovery and the massive payout from a counter suit.

I hate to break it to you but she’s unintentionally outing her own lies right here on BlueSky with her utterly nonsensical answers to fan’s questions. Someone did an abbreviated 38 min long breakdown of all the ways she directly contradicts the game to no narrative purpose. youtu.be/ogJlX8v9Bps?...
