Someone today pointed out, in the context of Bari Weiss making a hash of things at CBS News, that executives who don’t see those under them who actually do the work as people have no idea when they’re making a doomed decision.

Governor Abigail Spanberger quietly ended a rulemaking process initiated in the waning days of former-governor Glenn Youngkin’s administration. The rule would have limited transgender students' ability to play sports and use facilities.

“There’s no legal authority to move forward with rulemaking and prior administrations may have tried to create lanes and we’re not doing that,” Gov. Abigail Spanberger said.

The number of people taking this, and the distillation of “don’t shout Free Palestine at random Jews with no context,” as “you can’t say Free Palestine unless you’re sure a Jew isn’t somewhere around you” has me worried for the basic literacy of the English-speaking world.
I don't think that the phrase "Free Palestine" is inherently antisemitic, I even generally believe in the sentiment. But it is definitely being used to harrass Jews, and I understand why many are wary of those whose activism stops and ends with saying the phrase.

Lmao. Taking two months off. That'll show voters how effective Mike Johnson's speakership is.
It's official: Per MS NOW's Mychael Schnell, the House is canceling tomorrow's votes.

They're going home until after Election Day, to avoid voting on Thomas Massie's impeachment resolution against Pete Hegseth.

Resident Evil fans will have to live with the fact they've driven Zach Cregger away from making another film in the franchise. Really embarrassing. This is why we can't have nice things.

More in my lane is how anti-semitism is now basically unregulated on social media, how any 14 year old can now find "Jewish question" content that was walled off 10 years ago... and all the energy is in banning Israel boycotts. I assure you, that's making this worse!

It’s not great. The ADL has more or less decided that antisemitism is fine as long as it’s not antizionism and antizionism is always antisemitism and it’s just depressing as fuck.
I have no idea how to have this conversation within Jewish circles but the very obvious path we're on is that the ADL is devaluing the concept of antisemitism by making it synonymous with Ms Rachel and Macklemore, spending down the capital of American Jews in service of a genocidal apartheid state
yeah the basic issue is that to avoid upsetting the Trump administration, every organization combatting antisemitism has decided that literally only antizionism is antisemitism

Holy shit. Note this is being reported by CBS News.
If Biden or Obama had started a war that led to attacks like these on American bases—and then covered it up for months—the political backlash would eclipse Benghazi.

New photos show widespread damage at U.S. positions caused by Iranian missile, drone attacks

"Is not practicing Jewish" is an old antisemitic weapon; they get to decide who is & is not Jewish ~enough~ to count as Jewish; every other Jew is thus deserving of the smears & dehumanization.

Left unsaid is that The Real Jews™ are also dehumanized but in a "so sad you're going to hell" way.
French, a right-wing Christian, suggested to the NYTimes that antisemitic death threats made by his supporters against the Democratic candidate aren’t actually antisemitic because Rosenthal is “not practicing Jewish” - although he doesn’t actually know how religiously observant Rosenthal is.

“I decide who the real Jews are” is not a great move to make in response to criticism about the previous antisemitic thing you did. Just FYI

I just realized that if you claim that "actually Palestinians/Arabs/Muslims are Semites too," then what you are actually doing is SILENCING the conversation about anti-Arab and Islamophobic bigotry by covering it up with a term for anti-Jewish bigotry – a term invented by proto-Nazi "race science."
