Okay new rule: if you respond to my jokes with advice and I don’t know you, I’m blocking you.

Good morning, by the way.
Probably as good a time as any to revisit this one. #MyNextRead

I feel weirdly anxious about posting this chart even though I cannot imagine anyone who knows me would be even a little bit surprised at the chart’s existence.

Well, I finished the 8th book. 5039 pages in 30 days. That feels like a lot? I'm sure it's not a lot compared to some of you but it's a lot for me.

I wonder what I'm gonna read next.
I’ve read 4351 pages in 7 books over the course of the past 24 days. That’s the fastest I’ve read in quite some time. I think I’m gonna have a bit of a crash when I get to the end of this one.

I have a really important question, you guys. You guys, I have a really important question.

Is it “splooge” or “spooge”?

I realized today, probably not for the first time, that most of the things that piss me off are relatively minor in the grand scheme of things, whereas the actually big awful things like war and oppression and climate change mostly make me feel tired or sad or scared or hopeless.

If you're going to read this, be aware that it includes graphic details.

I don't even know what to say about this. Rape. And it sure seems like it was at least in part politically motivated. Jesus Fucking Christ.
Jesus Fucking Christ every detail of this is horrific and human and completely understandable and I’m so glad she came forward and I fear for what will happen to her because of it and I hate all of these thoughts so much.
Horrifying: Arizona Democratic congressional candidate Bernadette Greene-Placentia was raped by a man after he knocked her out. Another man approached her to do the same. “She began swinging her foot at him. ‘Not even worth it,’ she heard the man say as he moved away.”

Ballotpedia.org is also a great resource. If you scroll to the very end of each proposition, it lists all the names of people and organizations who are for and against and how much they are spending to do so.

We're four weeks out from the election and ballots in CA are being mailed out. I thought I'd make a little thread of voter guides I've used, in case anyone is looking for info. Please feel free to respond with links to voter guides you like.

I've updated the sheet to add IBEW Local 569's endorsements as well as the latest updates from the U-T. The SD Dems for Equality club's endorsements are now marked complete as they've removed the "pending" local measures section.

Hey San Diego-area folks, I've gotten the first draft done of my spreadsheet of local orgs' election endorsements. If there's an org working in the area whose endorsements you think should be included, please let me know.

Something I've said before is that each of us has to be willing to admit that we're not one of the good ones yet if anything is ever going to get better. I like Nick's framing here, that it's more valuable to think of how you could be one of those guys than to think you could never.

Hello, friends. There's a new episode of #HeyItsMe today, in which Rachel and I talk about Starfleet Academy but, as always, are actually talking about ourselves.

Do you think Schmitt has the self-awareness or even the intellect to be embarrassed about this? I mean, if this were me I would simply never recover.
A phenomenal moment in the Senate.

Eric Schmitt, R-Mo., claims he has evidence Jack Smith went to a HAWKS game in Atlanta.

Smith denies it.

Schmitt declares he has busted Jack Smith for perjury.

Smith, vexed, says he went to HAWKEYES game in Maryland.
