Turns out the islands of vegetation that have been building up over the summer on the River Ely in Cardiff are the highly invasive Water-primrose (Ludwigia grandiflora) & a team from Defra is coming next week to remove it all. Nasty! [1st Welsh record to Peter Sturgess 19/8] @sewbrec.org.uk

It's a great time of year to spot migrant species like these as they travel to their wintering grounds.

#RecordOfTheWeek today is a Sponge Crab (Dromia personata), spotted in Oxwich by Zoe Foster.
This species has a symbiotic relationship with sponges, which provide the crab with camouflage while the sponge gains protection from predators.

#RecordOfTheWeek today is a Sponge Crab (Dromia personata), spotted in Oxwich by Zoe Foster.
