Just piqued a neighbor’s interest in putting her bike on light rail to Marymoor to ride ELST and related trails. But really no good map to share for someone new to the regional trail system. Especially that shows connections to transit. We have an amazing trail system but poor/0 tools for discovery.

I wish we wouldn’t have posted news about the new wild cat species. Especially because it’s small, I feel like that makes it such an instant target for bad actors to put them in captivity & try to raise them like domestic animals and people who want to breed similar domestic cats.

The scientists who identified 6PPD-Q as a salmon killer didn’t have to go far. They just put a bucket under the drain from 520 where it crosses over the Northwest Fisheries Science Center in Montlake. A continuous source of sample material. The same 520 WSDOT is currently expanding btw.

Where's my Carmaggedon, Day 4. Thursday morning commute from Vancouver to Portland is 31 minutes, about 5 minutes longer than the pre-shutdown travel time, according to Google Maps. That's well within the typical range of morning commute times (20-40 minutes). cityobservatory.org/carmageddoni...

OTOH I didn't really set up to be as efficient as I could have been with all the tarts and pizza dough and took longer than I needed to. OTOH, it's so nice to wonder what's for dinner and then just pop a delicious savory tart in the oven that will take no time to clean up. Etc.

It would be so interesting if Seattle's search takes forever and the CARE team gets to actually keep expanding in the interim.
Not ideal for the mayor but not the worst thing for prevention, I expect.

Question, and reassuring answer, about "safeguards" and background checks in the search for the next police chief. No mention that our last police chief got through hiring process without anyone uncovering he was a reckless maniac.

I've done this rant about 50 times at this point. But here's the TL;DR:
Buses are good.
Buses are eco-friendly.
Low emissions buses are good.
Electric buses are also good, if they work reliably and you have the money to deploy them.
They are not *nessesary* and shouldn't be prioritized.
