This is a great explanation. The proposal is to move from a Triple Lock to an Adjusted Triple Lock.
All your Triple Lock questions answered:
- what is the new policy
- why it’s a ‘triple lock’
- why pensioner poverty is expected to fall in the 2030s torstenbell.substack.com/p/the-future...
The Future of the Triple Lock
The questions I’ve been asked most after Andy Burnham’s speech - and what the answers are.

Britain's future relationship with Europe is being debated in Parliament on 12th October. I've just asked my MP to attend. Will you ask yours? www.europeanmovement.co.uk/contact-mp-a...
Ask your MP to stand up for our future in Europe
On 12 October, Parliament will debate the UK's future relationship with Europe, after a government petition got over 100,000 signatures. Will you write to your MP to ask them to attend the debate?

@crosscountryuk.bsky.social One toilet on the Plymouth train is absolutely not acceptable - and that one is blocked and the lock doesn't work!!! @andyburnham.bsky.social The same every time I use this train. I will be forced to do a dirty protest as my bladder is bursting!!!!

A timely reminder that it's not *always* best to do "what you're supposed to do"...
Happy Stanislav Petrov Day

He passed in 2017. As Encyclopedia Britannica puts it, “He is survived by his two children, two grandchildren, and the entire human race.”

If you don't know his story, please take 3 minutes now to learn it.

It's a very fine insult but turbot is a very fine and expensive fish. Maybe something like roach would have been better?
The War Game is a show in which we are asked to pretend Michael Gove, the Tory Party's emotional support turbot, can handle a global nuclear crisis, when we all know he couldn't handle a spoonful of gak in an Aberdonian nightclub.

Quite emotional to report that we've just found our amazing survivor Marsh Tit, still here in his ancient woodland kingdom. He's now 11 yrs 4 months old, survived the 2026 heatwaves/drought and smelt the wildfires of nearby Holme Fen. I ringed him in my 30s and I'm now in my 50s.

So, we're set for some images from Marseille - all shot on Ilford Delta Pro 100 and a Nikon F4 (so *not* travelling light). Late summer sunshine and shadows aplenty.

As I have said about Tories for years, seeing someone suffer is how they measure their success.
Just look at the glee on Nigel Farage’s face as he watches a Piddington resident cry about the overt racism she, her Caribbean heritage husband, and their two children have felt in the village during the referendum.

Time and again he’s showing us exactly who he is.

I have formed a patriotic vigilante force in the village.
We are The Gussage Patriot Guard.
Naturally we disguise our identity.
At the snap of a custard cream we can be mobilised to:
Quote the bible
Urinate in public
Set up funding pages
Eat spicy foods
Spit
Chant in cockney.

£72 million from 2 individuals - both of whom have faced questions about money laundering, both of whom live/d overseas to avoid tax - is not compatible with democracy.

I don't care if it's Reform, Labour or whoever. We can't function like this. Not for long.

So how do we fix it?

My plan:

Did u know? Seed heads, not only look beautiful, they are essential to wildlife friendly gardens. They shelter small souls during cold, wet winter months & they feed birds, like goldfinches when other food is scarce. So don't lop 'em off, leave 'em in situ.....Believe in *brown*. 🤎🌱🌿🇬🇧🌱🌍🐦‍⬛🪲🕷️
