Rhode Island’s Blue Economy is taking flight!

I kicked off my 2026 Blue Economy tour witnessing Regent Craft’s Seaglider take flight up close.

From creating good-paying jobs to making travel between coastal communities easier, the future is exciting. ✈️ 🌊

LOL, the VCs on Twitter are fighting (but it’s a day that ends in “y”, so what else is new).

Factory is accusing an advisor of stealing strategic plans and getting a job at competitor Cognition. Our old islamophobic friend Shaun Maguire goes nuclear…maybe literally in his own mind?

Unusual Whales is a hack account that constantly implies Pelosi is insider trading when her husband just buys calls on tech stocks (guess what? that's been an awesome trade) so I'm not at all surprised it frames Dems blocking a voter ID bill in this way.

2024 proves that sufficient numbers of Americans are utter morons and, as long as they have the right to vote, Obama will be 100% correct about this. There is not a majority in this country for rational, material politics.
uh, let me be clear, *most unclear and wishy-washy drivel conceivable*

My favorite way to annoy Confederate sympathizers: telling them that Lincoln would have almost certainly won a free election in 1860 in South Carolina where he was on the ballot and then waiting to see how long it takes them to get it.

My 8YO absolutely loves space and rockets. He has been reading a book about the Apollo program and has been telling me today all about how Werner von Braun helped design the Saturn V.

So, that day has finally arrived…the day where I must start teaching my son about WW2 and that Nazis are evil.

a very funny detail: 18% of the negative sentiment is either "AI is going to put this company out of business" or "this company doesn't use AI enough". that's positive on AI lol

Oh dear. Even the idiots of the All In podcast (which I sometimes need to listen to for work, ugh) seem to now understand that Trump is regularly acting in an erratic manner rather than executing on complex, 17D chess.

As one of my colleagues is fond of saying, there are only 2 stories in investing: bundling and unbundling.
Sources: Netflix discussed adding streamers like Peacock and Fox One as it seeks to compete with YouTube and Roku in becoming a one-stop shop for TV content (John Koblin/New York Times)

Interesting data from Vercel over on Twitter. In the last 2 months, closed source models have gone from 72% of tokens to 38%. And yet, if public statements are correct, both OpenAI and Anthropic have seen accelerating revenue growth. It gives a sense how much the pie is growing for both to be true.

The objections to levered buyouts (“OMG, private equity is buying a company by forcing it to take out loans”) are overblown. The situation is no different from existing owners taking out debt, paying themselves a dividend, and selling the company.
What’s a thing from your area of expertise (or special interest) that you think it would behoove everyone else to know?

I just don't understand this. I've helped hire many individuals at my current firm. I have no idea whether the people we ultimately selected were the most qualified. Why? Because hiring is never a purely quantitative exercise and "soft" factors play a role in the end result!
So tyler harper was a DEI hire but he was also highly qualified? Which one is it?

This is 100% correct. The polling miss created a sense that Dems “lost” 2020 even though they came out of it with a trifecta, which is what really doomed woke 1. We had to wait days for the networks to call it for Biden (well after it was obvious), we lost House seats, and the Senate was uncertain.
Actual answer is "we thought a better world seemed possible and then Biden barely won after agonizing days of counting and we realized how fickle progressivism among the greater populace is," which is not great to say out loud.

Oh great, I had managed to avoid any WW2 atomic bombing debates in my feed and then here comes the president of Iran.
Iran president: 'On this anniversary of the US atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki-among greatest crimes against humanity-those who reject that horror must also condemn the same mentality in Washington that today threatens to wipe out nations and destroy civilian infrastructure. Never again'

Great thread from Trent Hone on that perennial question of ranking Halsey, Spruance, and Fletcher as carrier commanders.
I think these comparisons are generally unhelpful. Too much depends on timing and circumstance. TF 17 was a very different beast from SOPAC, which was very different again from Fifth Fleet. And as similar as Third and Fifth fleets were, they were also different (especially if we consider Leyte).

We can debate how much further Soviet armies could have moved when the uprising kicked off given the state of their logistics.

There is no debate that the Soviets helped condemn thousands of Polish civilians and Home Army soldiers to death by refusing US/UK access to airbases.
#OTD in 1944, the Warsaw Uprising started. An iconic picture. A captured German armored personnel carrier Sonderkraftfahrzeug 251. (Soviet troops were very close to the city, and did not help, at all. 😠) #WW2 #HISTORY

I have no idea what is going on in MI-7, but it is hilarious to see Prospect and a Sunshine co-founder of all people complain about Democrats attacking each other with financial smears based on half truths. Maybe it's time for some self reflection by all parties involved in this?
"Crush MAGA PAC," a DCCC-aligned Super PAC, is up with a $500,000+ ad buy going negative on progressive frontrunner Will Lawrence in MI-07.
It says he's "invested thousands with Wall Street, big oil and data centers." He has a $10,000 retirement account in an index fund.

Being a legislator and a politician is a career. Most likely could put their charisma and network to use elsewhere. Why shouldn’t I want to pay a high wage to encourage to best to work as my representative to get my preferred policies enacted rather than as some corporate executive?
This just means you have to be independently rich to hold office, and the main reason to hold office would be corruption
they shouldn't be paid a wage at all actually

So, this highlights my issue with Prospect: constantly making exaggerated accusations based on innuendo with no actual evidence (in this case, openly comparing this situation with what the Trump kids are doing) such that the only valid job to have is graduate student.
