Wow, that is shocking! He even took us out to dinner at a restaurant where he ordered an awful goose for the table that was the greasiest, fattiest thing I have ever eaten; once again, hitting the mark of “American stereotype of an English aristocrat.” And London has so many excellent restaurants!

I met him once when he was running his EM fund before he became an MP. I can’t remember anything about his stock picks, but his personality was such an over-the-top “American stereotype of an English aristocrat” that I thought it had to be an act for the first half hour of the meeting.

I would have thought he’d have learned the lesson after 2000 and the Iraq War, or 2016 and Covid, but apparently even 2024 and USAID isn’t enough for that turd.

It’s clear that the guy hasn’t learned his lesson yet. So until he has, further reinforcement is necessary.

Yeah! It’s not like their biggest song ever said both parties are the same, came out right before an election, performed it across the street from the DNC, and then a Republican “won” by 500 votes in Florida.

They also cannot understand the joy of opening the dryer - expecting a load of thousands of small children’s outfits (including 17 socks that will somehow lack a match) - only to instead find a load of 10 large, fluffy easy-to-fold towels.

I look forward to this site’s reaction to a Democratic trifecta in the US in 2029 compared to an RN led France, Reform led UK, and AfD led Germany. Maybe some countries aren’t pariahs that will need to undergo a century of shame and instead we just need to get on with crushing the far right?

I invest in private funds as my day job and I would never invest in one with my personal money (unless it was some special deal where I got to invest alongside my institution) because I know the quality of the groups that would take money from 401k plans and I’d rather have an index fund.

One benefit of a career in finance is learning to compartmentalize stress and anxiety, whether it’s a day every long is down and every short is up or a night the country is deciding if it’s doubling down on fascism.

So, instead of watching results come in, I shall be watching Pacific Rim.

If she had said the words in the exact way Tyler Austin Harper wanted and smiled the right way and not made him feel like she was smarter than him, then he would have believed that she wasn't a warmonger rather than make veiled accusations that she was one.

I believe they’ve already demanded an apology for her speech at the 2024 DNC where she covered up for the pro-genocide wing of the party or something. And if we object to her crippling her campaign that way, it just means that we’re islamophobic or something and want to murder children.

It's likely more pronounced with SpaceX than Anthropic or OpenAI given how recently the latter two have raised their capital; SpaceX, however, has 10 or even 20 year old funds sitting on huge paper gains and the investors need cash to pay pension liabilities, endowment-funded scholarships, etc.

The best is the response of Vinod Khosla to the CEO of Factory after he made the allegation, calling Factory “a struggling second tier competitor.” I mean, not so bad, right? But, guess who invested more money in Factory 2 weeks ago and led their Series C 6 months ago? Khosla, of course!

Honestly, young Republicans these days are probably more evil than the old ones.

I really want these guys to lose massive amounts of money as a minority shareholder in a founder controlled, Texas domiciled company where the court tells them "oops, nothing we can do" after some act of blatant fraud that a Delaware court would have stopped.
September 30, 2026 at 2:44 PM
I’ll give a “hell yeah” to that.

It’s too bad. They still have the old war game pieces and tools from the ‘20s and ‘30s in the vault, or at least they did back 20 years ago when I was there. Alas, they wouldn’t let me play with them...I mean engage in serious historical research with them.

In fact, there seem to be entire GenZ dominated subreddits that think the ACA was nothing but big payoff to the insurance industry and is the sole reason HC costs are increasing (not realizing that the rate of cost inflation slowed dramatically post ACA).

Will they let you do old school wargaming on the tile floors?
September 29, 2026 at 7:52 PM
Yup. We need to avoid “race to the bottom” mechanics like unlimited founder control, Texas listings where minority shareholders have no rights, toothless independent directors, etc. It’s good for capital markets and good for democracy to have limits on the power of trillion dollar company CEOs.

Given that only 50% of Disney Star Wars movies finished with the same director they started with, I wouldn’t worry about getting to attached to this one.

And I think only 1 of the 6 started filming with a shooting script, so I wouldn’t even assume any details they throw out will show up.
