If you’re teaching university-level US history next semester or any after in courses that include the Declaration of Independence, American Revolution, and early republic, this thread is so you can see if my new book is, or if certain chapters in it are, useful to you and your students.
Well, this story took an unexpected turn.

BBC Wales Today reported earlier this evening that support there for independence is now 42 percent, while opposition to independence is at 68 percent. That's something I've long admired about the Welsh--always ready to give 110 percent.

I try not to overdo this bit but ... my man is begging for it.

Let's go.

Reading @rparkinson.bsky.social on my (long) journey back from Philadelphia to Lyon after #SHEAR2026. Understanding the Declaration's grievances through those associated with them is a brilliant, innovative, and truly enlightening approach--even if he's wrong about the number of grievances :)

Another highlight of #SHEAR2026 was seeing and posing for a photo with the amazing Nadine Zimmerli of @uvapress.bsky.social, who did so much to help bring my book (The Course of Human Events: The Declaration of Independence and the Historical Origins of the United States) into being.

Second all this. #SHEAR2026 was a terrific conference and our panel on the DoI was possibly the best and most fun I've ever been on. Thanks to @frankcogliano.bsky.social, @michaelhattem.bsky.social, @rparkinson.bsky.social, and especially @emilysneff.bsky.social for the idea and organizing it!
When I saw the in #SHEAR2026 program that our panel on the Declaration of Independence scheduled for the v last session on Sunday, my heart sank. @emilysneff.bsky.social, @michaelhattem.bsky.social, @stevesarson.bsky.social, and Rob Parkinson were so brilliant I shouldn't have worried. 1/
