I think Remedy's insistence on using live-action footage and scanned-in actor models is actually a big help in this regard, especially since they don't go the Kojima route of casting famous faces.
Dylan doesn't look or sound like a superhero game protag, he's just...a sad guy.

The game has done a successful job differentiating Dylan from Jesse as a character, not just on a mechanical level. Anxious and insecure to her confidence and self-assuredness, soft-hearted to her callused edges.

Watching 2021's RESIDENT EVIL: WELCOME TO RACCOON CITY. I'm about halfway through.
For me, as a semi-casual fan who got in through the RE2 remake, this film's a weird case where I'd let some decisions slide if they hadn't made others, and vice versa, but not all at once.

Okay, so they DEFINITELY ditched Cummings for being a shithead, and not just because he's old. Because it's not celebrity name recognition (Hamill definitely isn't more expensive than Cummings judging by the breadth of his voiceover career).

So a while back, I brought up the name of Anita Sarkeesian as a negative point of comparison against someone. I was very clear that this was NOT the same brand of "criticism" as the chuds that hate her.

I've always loved David Finch's art on 2006 Moon Knight, because it feels like he's almost satirizes the bulky musculature of comic book heroes? Like, Marc and Bushman are SO huge and SO detailed that they start to look grotesque.
I do feel like I haven't made it clear WHAT a big deal the 2006 Moon Knight comic was? like partly that's Charlie Huston doing "what if Dark Knight Returns without the bullshit?" but also David Finch just at the height of his power, Moon Knight has never looked this AWESOME
