Rally in Downtown Richmond to Stop The Merger between Dominion Energy and Florida's NextEra Energy — which would create the largest public utility in the world.

These people are breaking our economy and our democracy, poisoning our culture, engaging in unprecedented corruption and have set the world on fire, making everything more expensive and war more likely.

We are not giving them “another chance.” Enough is enough.

Pete Hegseth is the most incompetent person in the Trump regime — with the exception of Trump himself — and a clear and present danger to the entire world

If Trump won’t fire him, Democrats should impeach him when (hopefully) they take over the House and Senate next January.

Hell yes.
BREAKING: We're suing Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and the National Institutes of Health Director for their ideologically-driven termination and censorship of biomedical research grants.

Targeting views the government disagrees with for not aligning with a political agenda is unconstitutional.

This is a little inside baseball, but the "600" threshhold is one that always gets attention in the weather community — signaling especially hot air in the lowest 3.5 miles of the atmosphere.
A 600+ dm ridge over the southern Appalachians is something we’ve only seen a handful of times in the past, and never this late in the year. The Mississippi Valley will continue to bear the brunt of this heat dome that is being amplified by climate change.

Soylent Emmer.
Emmer says Republicans need to talk more about grocery prices that aren't expensive: "Eggs are at pre-pandemic prices. Ah, beef is at, ah, less than $2 a pound for ground beef ... I think we have a lot to run on."

We will pay for this far more than in dollars. If not in the near term, certainly in the long term.
The cuts in staff across federal health agencies are staggering. Great analysis from @ourpublicservice.bsky.social.

1 in 5 people gone from NIH.

More than 1 in 4 gone from CDC.

Nearly 7 in 10 gone from AHRQ.

Just have to sit with this for a while.
Going forward, the US National Science Foundation research budget for all atmospheric, ocean, and Earth sciences is $110 million per year.

Trump's illegal war with Iran cost the Department of Defense (i.e., the American taxpayers) $38 billion in the first 5 months, or $220 million per day.
Estimating the Cost of Combat Operations Against Iran
CBO assesses the Department of Defense's costs for the current armed conflict against Iran, as well as the conflict's economic and budgetary effects.

The regime wants you sick, poor, and ignorant.
NSF has reduced the research budget for all atmospheric, ocean, and earth sciences by ~80%.

80%!

A lot of us will not be conducting new research or training new students for the foreseeable future.

My next read.
Below is the full blurb from @hcrichardson.bsky.social.

"How Russia Won" is the full account of Putin's decade-long assault on US politics (often to help Trump) & Trump's aiding and abetting of that attack by denying it's happening.

This is where Jeffries has to earn his paycheck. After the election he needs to find 4 Rs who are committed to democracy, who will make him speaker for the sole purpose of ensuring that the people who won elections can take their seats. This should be possible.
What is the plan?

Be clear people: I believe the Trump/GOP plan is not to actually try to win the 2026 elections in 2026, but when they lose enough seats to lose the House & Senate, to challenge the results. And then refuse to seat those candidates who barely won, claiming they won by "fraud"

"...more pollutants such as smog, mercury and lead — and especially more tiny airborne particles that can lodge in lungs and cause health problems, the AP analysis found. It would also mean higher emissions of greenhouse gases, driving Earth’s warming to deadlier levels."

And we will
