Unsurprising people are irritated. Cyclists are not responsible for the bad behaviour of other cyclists any more than drivers are. But they do feel exasperated by the endless ‘othering’ & media attacks on a mode that is incredibly low risk, in the context of 29,000 annual UK motor vehicle casualties

I don't like anyone breaking road law or behaving dangerously towards other road users, be they on foot, bike, motorcycle (regardless of energy source) or motor vehicle.
They are all individuals though, and if you're painting cyclists as the major risk then you're not serious about road danger

If every statement about Extinction Rebellion had opened with "Climate change is the single biggest issue facing humanity, and we understand why people have legitimate concerns the world isn't doing enough to tackle it…" this approach might be *faintly* defensible. But they didn't, and it isn't.
They’re just pouring more fuel onto the fire. Why are the racists consistently called legitimate, whilst in a world that’s burning people who protest over climate change and genocide are not being afforded even a smidgeon of the same grace?
