It might be harder to find a bigger humiliation of a home team than the 4-1 defeat the USMNT suffered to Belgium at Lumen. The Seattle Sounders, however, will never stop innovating. They lost 5-1 to the Portland Timbers at Lumen Field 10 days later. You gotta hand it to them.

Lionel Messi will almost certainly join these six women as the only players to appear in three World Cup finals. Congrats to him for likely being the seventh!

You know what, let’s name all of them.

Ali Krieger, Alex Morgan, Tobin Heath, Megan Rapinoe, Christie Rampone all should be recognized for being in 3 World Cup finals.

I know I’m forgetting someone too.

This men’s World Cup making us speak up for Carli Lloyd more than any of us ever cared to.

Anyway.
Carli Lloyd WC finals:
2011, in Germany, against Japan
2015, in Canada against Japan again (hat trick)
2019, in France against Netherlands
With Argentina’s stunning comeback win against England in the #FIFAWorldCup semi-final, Lionel Messi will join Brazil’s Cafu as the second player EVER to play in three separate World Cup Finals 🤯

A place in the press box at today’s France-Spain game is reserved for Christophe Gleizes, the French sports journalist who is currently detained in Algeria for his reporting there.

FIFA is supporting the campaign for his release with this placard and a “Free Gleizes” scarf.

I'm not ready to feel better, but this is true.
Wanna feel better?

The women will get half of this $15m, and the men will get half of what the women earn. CBA.
I wanted to feel gross about something else so I looked up the USMNT vs USWNT payouts. The disgusting thing is the men will receive $15 million for their shit performance while the women could win the cup and make less than $5 mil.

I've never been bored watching soccer until this game.
I can't believe what we just witnessed. We've never seen anything like this ever.

Portugal had a real chance to win the World Cup. They were spectacularly talented in some places. But instead of trying to win the World Cup, they decided to coddle Ronaldo and lost because of it. This was on purpose!
