“You will never achieve success by ensuring against failure”

Before I make an entrance onstage every night, I say out loud but quietly, “I don’t give a fuck!” And I go work

And it works! It takes away anxiety and stress and worry, and all of those stupid wasteful things that don’t help you at all

I've been publishing books for young readers for 23 years. In the past three years, there's been a huge change. The discourse is fraught. Now I am regularly accused of being a "groomer" a "pornographer" and a "pedophile." For writing kids books. It's horrible. And nonsensical. And not okay.

At a time when so many of us are watching our hard work get stolen and repurposed by "Ai" we are also faced with threats in our community. Please watch the Emmy award winning documentary The Librarians. And call your reps to push against these federal book banning bills: HR 7661, 2616, and 8705.

some people may read this chart and say "ah see women need to catch the wave"
but I look at it and think how AI is sold as killing off women's work.
Occupations more exposed to AI saw the widest gap between men's and women’s employment growth.

Men’s employment in jobs most exposed to AI grew by close to 24%. Meanwhile, women’s employment growth remained nearly flat.

This is so critically important.Department admin can’t be automated unless you want nothing to get done ever.Has anyone met an experienced admin?Half of what they do is remembering who wrote what line of the deep magic that makes the place run& being able to call in their favor at the right time
People keep thinking they can automate the type of admin work often done by women...
bc they think their institution is a machine and not a brain. They think it can be recreated as a set of tasks executed w/ rules, and that we can skip the parts relying on relationships, memory, and judgment.
“Universities must stop falling in love with every new piece of software … that the tech industry pitches as essential. Administrators spend on software as if it is a durable investment, when all of the evidence shows that it … makes bloat worse.”
