I like reading books about books, listening to jangly guitar music, and watching Philadelphia sports teams break my heart.

Well, we sat in the rain and watched an embarrassing defeat in a run of failure that is resembling 1964 levels. But my daughter got her squishies!

I don't know what happened, but I know it is't good when every Philly sports account I follow is just writing things like "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" or just strings of expletives.

Westside Cowboy's IT GOES ON is the most exciting release of 2026 for me.
Britainicana!
I interviewed half of the great young English band Westside Cowboy, who love the Velvet Underground namedrop Lonnie Donegan (!) while making jokes about ONLY BY THE NIGHT era Kings Of Leon. What's not to love?

You can make comments here: parkplanning.nps.gov/documentsOpe...

That page has lots of "before and after" illustrations. Below, before/after view from near JFK/RFK grave site in Arlington

Totally bummed that the truly great Culture Gabfest is coming to an end. There is nothing that will fill its void. Thanks for years of witty, erudite, entertaining coversation, Stephen, Julia, and Dana (and guests like Carl and Dan Kois)!
Very sadly, it's been announced today that the @slate.com Culture Gabfest, which set the standard for arts podcasts, will end after this month. I had the honour of being one of the first regular guests to come say goodbye, with a final great conversation. carlwilson.substack.com/p/au-revoir-...

Been playing this today and it's a top-tier Stones album. Of course it is bookended by masterpieces, but even deeper cuts like "Worried about You" and "Tops" are fantastic.
'80s Stones Month continues at Evil Speakers with 1981's TATTOO YOU, one of my favorite albums all-time, and a record I refer to semi-constantly when talking about other long-running bands. I have a lot to say in this episode!

Philadelphia knows exactly where Toronto is. We’re haunted by the ghost of 1993. But we’re chanting “F—- Joe Carter!”
