The accounting is in: In Oregon there are 111 data centers. The TOTAL number of people employed at data centers is just 2,630, or 0.1% of the labor force.

either it is in principle possible to set up appropriate safeguards (in which case the "AI alignment" story is just as much about who gets to set them up and enforce them as it is about the content of the safeguards) or it is not (in which case we should be talking about transnational moratoria)

any other Congress in US history would have worked 24 hours a day all thru the weekend to impeach a POTUS who said something like that. ONLY the Ryan, Pelosi, Johnson and Jeffries crew couldn't give two shits about our democracy
