Also for Californians: sign up for BallotTrax. You will get text or email notifications about your ballot from the moment it gets put in the mail from the Elections Office until the moment they process it. Any issues, they will also let you know asap.
many states, including California, also have an option to drop your ballot off directly at a elections office dropbox or election center and avoid USPS on the way back all together, which I'd recommend if possible.
If your state votes by mail, put your ballot in a mailbox AT the post office. Dont send it like regular mail. It's TOO IMPORTANT

It works even if you’re not the owner. (This is more effective than the Disney trick, since there are AI tools to remove background music.)
