I want my readers to say there’s nothing my characters should have done differently. They don’t go down the stairs into the creepy basement. They don’t read from the demonic book they were warned not read from. That makes it scarier– #Punko #horror

His exhilaration and anticipation turned quickly to disappointment after his tween daughter asked him not to embarrass her by dressing up for Halloween today.

Her lips were red, her looks were free,
Her locks were yellow as gold:
Her skin was as white as leprosy,
The Night-mare LIFE-IN-DEATH was she,
Who thicks man's blood with cold.

The best was ravenous for knowledge. It ate every book in the library, the book sellers, the schools, and the university. Once the books were consumed, no one else could use them. Even if they subdued and captured the beast, they would need to find a way to extract all that knowledge. #vss365

The streets are full of ghosts, pale memories devoid of color. Dreams of things, hinting at significance, their meaning nearly forgotten. I walk in the footsteps of friends now gone, seeking for phantoms in the anonymous faces ‘neath the cold city’s neon, nighttime glow. #FromOneLine

On the one hand, I want to make a dent in my tbr pile, on the hand hand there are many independent #book stores I frequent and I wouldn’t want any of them to go out of business because I decided to #read the #books I already have.

I find it fascinating how personal fear is. What is a person afraid of? That tells you more than any other emotion. What are you afraid of? You see someone more intimately than any other question– @nickmartell.bsky.social

This crisp white star once shone, #cheering the cold, cold night. Its glimmer twinkling with every orbiting thought. Over time, half becomes quarter. The dim dims, fading fades. Toward turns to past. Turning ever inward, until none but itself can see, the beauty of its black, black whole.
